CIBA TAPS BT FOR MANAGED SERVICES...BT is entering into a strategic supplier agreement with Ciba Specialty Chemicals (Ciba), to provide a broad package of managed ICT-services to Ciba's operations around the world. This includes deploying a global IP telephony solution running across a BT managed LAN and WAN service, a global IT security solution and a flat rate voice service. The partnership will provide Ciba with improved management of costs for existing infrastructure, together with a technology refresh over the life of the agreement to equip Ciba with a modern suite of networked IT services to support business operations globally. Headquartered in Switzerland, Ciba Specialty Chemicals is active in more than 120 countries.
IBM FIRST QUARTER EARNINGS UP...IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced first-quarter 2007 diluted earnings of $1.21 per share from continuing operations, an increase of 12 percent as reported, compared with diluted earnings of $1.08 per share in the first quarter of 2006. First-quarter income from continuing operations was $1.8 billion compared with $1.7 billion in the first quarter of 2006, an increase of 8 percent. Total revenues for the first quarter of 2007 of $22.0 billion increased 7 percent (4 percent, adjusting for currency) from the first quarter of 2006.
FREEBORDERS NAMES NEW TOP EXECUTIVE...Freeborders, a leading provider of technology solutions and outsourcing from China, announced that Jean Cholka has been named President and Chief Executive Officer. Cholka most recently was a member of the executive team at Kanbay International, the highly successful global IT services consultancy based in Chicago with large delivery centers in India.
EDS ISSUES DIVIDEND...EDS declared a dividend of $0.05 per share on its common stock, payable June 11, 2007, to shareholders of record as of the close of business May 15, 2007.
