CSC ANNOUNCES CSC CLOUDCOMPUTER FOR GOVERNMENT...CSC announces CSC CloudCompute for Government (CCFG), which provides infrastructure as a service (IaaS) for CSC's new federal community cloud that is built using National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines and allows for future as a service offerings. Designed primarily for U.S. federal agencies and government personnel, this multi-tenant community cloud delivers the increased agility and scalability to respond rapidly to changing requirements at a fraction of the cost of a private cloud or a traditional data center, while providing the flexibility of a public cloud.

IBM ACQUIRES GREEN HAT...IBM has completed the acquisition of Green Hat, a privately held company jointly headquartered in London, England and Wilmington, Delaware. Financial terms were not disclosed. Green Hat, a leader in software quality and testing solutions for the cloud and other environments, helps customers improve the quality of software applications by enabling developers to use cloud computing technologies to conduct testing of a software application prior to its delivery. When combined with IBM's Rational software solutions, developers and testers can achieve unprecedented levels of efficiency, effectiveness and collaboration while delivering quality software to their business.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has awarded Accenture Federal Services a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) and four task orders to install an enterprise resource planning system to support the FBI's Human Resources Information System (HRIS). The BPA was awarded under the General Services Administration IT schedule that provides technology support services to the FBI. The task orders under this award will enable Accenture to oversee selection, installation, testing and support to the agency's HR systems.

Spanish savings bank "la Caixa" and IBM announced a ten-year strategic services relationship. As part of the agreement, IBM and Serveis Informatics la Caixa, S.A. (Silk) will manage the infrastructure technology budget of "la Caixa" of more than 2 billion euro over ten years. IBM, through Silk, will provide technology, operations, applications and infrastructure services to "la Caixa" and will manage its data processing centers, located in Cerdanyola del Valles and San Cugat (Barcelona).

Maricom Systems, Inc., a CSC company, has been awarded a contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide enterprise data services to support the agency's information systems. The Enterprise Data Services Contract (EDSC), which was awarded during CSC's third quarter of fiscal year 2012, includes a base year plus five option years with a total estimated value of $105 million.

SIX Telekurs has renewed and enhanced its existing outsourcing contract with Capgemini for data production centers in Poland and India. As a consequence, it has decided to shift additional manual data input from five in-house locations to Poland and India. This partial shift of its in-house data input will affect around 70 positions at SIX Telekurs globally.

The French Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (DILA) has awarded Accenture a three-year contract to design, build and deliver its Next Generation Data Center, the G-Cloud, in France. The contract supports the government's strategic technology goals to create savings by controlling costs.

BT FORMS NEW CONSULTING UNIT...BT announced the formation of BT Advise, which brings together the 4,500 BT Global Services experts who deliver consulting, systems integration and managed services around the world under one team and one name. BT Advise delivers consulting, integration and managed services through global practices organised around the BT Global Services core capabilities, such as security, customer relationship management, unified communications, mobility, managed network services, managed IT services and business technology. BT Advise also provides consulting services to other telecom operators.

INFOSYS BUYS AUSTRALIAN SOURCING FIRM...Infosys BPO Limited, the business process outsourcing subsidiary of Infosys Limited, announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire all of the outstanding share capital in Australia-based Portland Group Pty Ltd, a leading provider of strategic sourcing and category management services. The acquisition is expected to be completed by early January 2012, subject to certain closing conditions being met. Portland Group was founded in 1999 and today counts several large ASX 200 organizations within the Australia region as clients. It is headquartered in Sydney and has offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. The company reported revenue of approximately AUD 31.3 million for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2011. The company employs 113 professionals.

HP NAMES PUBLIC SECTOR EXECUTIVE...HP has appointed Marilyn Crouther senior vice president and general manager of HP Enterprise Services, U.S. Public Sector region. Crouther is responsible for driving growth in the government IT marketplace, while strengthening relationships with federal, state and local government agencies. Previously, Crouther was vice president of Finance for HP's U.S. Public Sector region, where she was responsible for planning and directing all financial and accounting business for the region. She replaces Dennis Stolkey, who recently was promoted to lead HP Enterprise Services for the Americas region.

ACCENTURE REPORTS RECORD REVENUE, EPS...Accenture reported strong financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2012, ended Nov. 30, 2011, with net revenues of $7.1 billion, an increase of 17 percent in U.S. dollars and 14 percent in local currency over the same period last year. Diluted earnings per share were $0.96, an increase of $0.15, or 19 percent, over the same period last year.

BNP Paribas and IBM announced a six year agreement for management, support and maintenance services of BNP Paribas infrastructure through their joint venture BNP Paribas Partners for Innovation (BP2I) created in 2004. BP2I is equally owned by BNP Paribas and IBM. Since 2004, BNP Paribas has grown from 95,000 to 200,000 employees, including 150,000 in Europe, and now works with over 22 million customers.

HP Enterprise Services has been selected by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) as one of 21 vendors to provide federal agency sponsored buildings and campuses with telecommunications infrastructure services and products under the Connections II contract.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) awarded CSCa task order to continue to operate and maintain USCIS' Verification Information System (VIS). The task order, which was awarded during CSC's fiscal 2012 second quarter, has a one-year base period, a one-year option and two six-month options, bringing the estimated total three-year value to $67 million.

IBM ACQUIRING CLOUD-BASED ANALYTICS FIRM...IBM is buying DemandTec in an all cash transaction at a price of $13.20/share, or at a net price of approximately $440 million, after adjusting for cash. The company says the acquisition will extend IBM's Smarter Commerce initiative by adding cloud-based price, promotion and other merchandising and marketing analytics to help companies better define the best price points and product mix based on customer buying trends. DemandTec delivers cloud-based analytics software that enables businesses to examine different customer buying scenarios, both online and in-store. As a result, companies can spot trends and shopper insights to make better price, promotion, and assortment decisions that increase revenue and profitability.

HP, MICROSOFT TEAM UP FOR CLOUD INITIATIVE...HP Enterprise Services and Microsoft Corp. today announced a global, four-year initiative to deliver Microsoft's leading communications and collaboration applications via global private and public cloud services. Under the agreement, HP and Microsoft will offer private and public cloud solutions designed to help organizations rapidly scale new users, shift IT resources from maintenance to innovation and change IT from a capital to operating expense. he solutions will launch globally, with initial availability this month in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Syngenta Crop Protection AG, a Switzerland-based global agribusiness, has signed a seven-year infrastructure services agreement extending its long-term services relationship with HP. With this agreement, Syngenta will move parts of its technology infrastructure to a private cloud computing environment using HP Cloud Computing Solutions supported from HP data centers.

Syngenta also signed a multi-year Transformation and Business IT services contract with Infosys, who will consolidate Syngenta's Global Business IT services landscape under a single shared services engagement.

Accenture has signed multi-year agreements with The Hartford to assist in the transformation of The Hartford's finance department. Accenture will provide The Hartford with management and technology consulting as well as finance and accounting (F&A) business process outsourcing (BPO) services. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

SAP ACCELERATES CLOUD PUSH WITH SUCCESSFACTORS ACQUISITION...SAP will acquire SuccessFactors Inc., a developer of cloud-based human capital management (HCM) applications, for $3.4B in a move the company said will accelerate its cloud software strategy. SAP will pay $40 per share in cash for all of its outstanding stock of SuccessFactors, putting the total purchase price at $3.4B. The SuccessFactors' board of directors has approved the deal and the two companies expect to complete in the first quarter of 2012. The acquisition, which also requires approval from relevant regulatory authorities, is being carried out by SAP America Inc., the Waldorf, Germany-based company's U.S. subsidiary. Once the acquisition is complete San Mateo, Calif.-based SuccessFactors and its 1,450 employees will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary, SAP said. SuccessFactors CEO Lars Dalgaard will remain in that post and also will take on the job of leading SAP's cloud business.

WIPRO AND OUTSOURCING CENTER REPORT ON DATA CENTER ECONOMICS...Outsourcing Center and Wipro conducted a survey that included 75 CIOs and Heads of IT from Fortune 1000 companies across US, Europe and APAC that aimed to determine the current state of organizations' data centers as well as explore the attitudes and challenges towards data center optimization. The participants represented a range of industries including retail, financial services, transportation/logistics, manufacturing, healthcare and telecommunications. Among the key findings, in brief:

--Data center strategies (IT infrastructure, applications, network and facility) clearly impact businesses.

--Most organizations operate from multiple data centers but owned fewer than half of their data centers.

--Most organizations do not know the detailed cost breakdown of each data center.

--Fewer than half of organizations have adopted alternative models for data center management.

--Lack of measurable return-on-investment is holding organizations back from moving to alternate data center management models

CHIEF DRIVER OF CLOUD ADOPTION IS CONNECTING EMPLOYEES TO MULTITUDE OF DEVICES, SURVEY FINDS...A survey of information technology (IT) decision makers around the globe found that the shift to cloud computing is driven primarily by a desire to connect employees through the multitude of computing devices in use today. Turning conventional wisdom on its head, 33 percent of survey respondents cited accessibility to information through multiple devices as the most important reason for their decision to adopt cloud computing. Rounding out the top motivating factors of cloud adoption within the enterprise were accelerating the speed of business, which was the choice of 21 percent of respondents, and cutting costs, with 17 percent citing it as most important.

Elders Australia Ltd., a 172-year-old rural services and automotive company, has signed a seven-year infrastructure and applications services agreement with HP Australia Pty. Ltd. Under the agreement, Elders will use cloud technology to cost-effectively deploy its enterprise technology refresh program-- Project Connect.

Zorlu Group, a leading Turkish conglomerate that produces everything from yarn to LCD televisions, is turning to IBM to manage its increasingly complex and expanding IT infrastructure. The new multi-million dollar, seven-year agreement, which was signed in March, 2011, calls for IBM to manage Zorlu's server infrastructure, networks, and manufacturing software. This new agreement follows a five-year services contract between the two companies.

Capgemini UK plc, part of the Capgemini Group has been selected as Unilevers global business intelligence partner, to work alongside Unilever IT and business teams in delivering a major transformation programme over the next three years. Unilever is one of the worlds largest consumer goods companies, with 2 billion people using its products every day across 180 countries, and this major global programme will create its first Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), providing real-time data on its customers, markets and operations worldwide to support decisions on all the companys plans and activities.

Accenture and BNP Paribas Cardif have signed an eight-year business process outsourcing (BPO) agreement under which Accenture will manage an important portfolio of BNP Paribas Cardifs group life insurance policies business in France, including the administrative management of the insurers call centers and ancillary accounting operations.

CSC has signed a contract with Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust for a new program of work to outsource the trusts technology services. The 7-year agreement, with the option to extend to 10 years, means that CSC has day-to-day responsibility for hosting, developing and managing much of the trusts IT and back-office processes.

Genpact Limited, a global leader in business process and technology management, announced an agreement with PreCash, a rapidly-growing provider of expedited payment systems and other payment services.Through this engagement, Genpact will enable PreCash to respond to its increasing volume of payment processing transactions.

Cognizant has been selected as a strategic partner by Telefonica UK, a leading communications company for consumers and businesses in the UK, to develop and manage the Company's online applications that are critical to improving sales and enhancing customer service. Under the multiyear, managed services agreement, Cognizant will provide comprehensive business and operational support to Telefonica UK's online applications and enhance their agility, flexibility, and responsiveness to consumer demands and market changes.

ACS BUYS EMR FIRM BREAKAWAY GROUP...ACS, A Xerox Company, announced its acquisition of The Breakaway Group, adding a new cloud-based service to help healthcare professionals accelerate their adoption of Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Similar to the way pilots use flight simulation for training and safety, the Denver-based firm's technology, PromisePoint, allows caregivers to practice using an EMR just as they would in the hospital or doctor's office. By simulating their environment, they get familiar with using the system to enter orders and document patient care, without jeopardizing real patient data.

CLOUD COMPUTING TO GROW 12-FOLD BY 2015...By 2015, 76 percent of data center traffic will remain within the data center itself as workloads migrate In its inaugural Global Cloud Index (2010--2015), Cisco estimated global cloud computing traffic will grow 12-fold from 130 exabytes to reach a total of 1.6 zettabytes annually by 2015, a 66 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR). One zettabyte is equal to a sextillion bytes or a trillion gigabytes. To put that in perspective, 1.6 zettabytes is approximately equivalent to, 22 trillion hours of streaming music, 5 trillion hours of business Web conferencing with a webcam or 1.6 trillion hours of online high-definition (HD) video streaming. The cloud is the fastest growing component of data center traffic, which itself will grow 4-fold at a 33 percent CAGR to reach 4.8 zettabytes annually by 2015. Cloud is also estimated today to be 11 percent of data center traffic, growing to more than 33 percent of the total by 2015. Cloud is becoming a critical element for the future of information technology (IT) and delivery of video and content.

CSC has signed a new information technology (IT) outsourcing agreement with global defense and security company, BAE Systems. The five-year contract replaces the existing agreement that was due to expire in April 2012. The estimated contract value is up to $160 million per year. The agreement was signed during the third quarter of CSC fiscal year 2012.

Maersk Line, the largest global shipping company, has signed a $150 million-plus infrastructure services agreement with Hewlett-Packard Denmark that will support the shipper's global growth strategy. Under the five-year agreement, HP will help Maersk Line become an Instant-On Enterprise by using HP's cloud-enabled data centers and HP Workplace Services to optimize its technology infrastructure.

CSC has signed a contract with Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust for a new program of work to outsource the trust's technology services. CAPGEMINI BUYS OTC BUSINESS OF VENGROFF, WILLIAMS...Capgemini announced the acquisition of the Order to Cash (OTC) business from US-based Vengroff, Williams & Associates, Inc. (and certain of its affiliates), a leader in the accounts receivable collections market worldwide. The acquisition--which fits in with Capgemini's profitable growth strategy--will enable Capgemini to build on its Finance and Accounting BPO services through enhanced offerings in the Order to Cash (OTC) market worldwide. Capgemini gains onshore OTC capabilities, mainly in the United States, as well as process expertise. The acquisition brings over 300 VWA experts to Capgemini's 12,000 skilled staff BPO organization.

WIPRO CONSOLIDATES GLOBAL IT INFRASTUCTURE BUSINESS...Wipro Technologies announced the consolidation of its India and global IT infrastructure business to form a new business unit called Global Infrastructure and Services (GIS). One of the cornerstones of Wipro's success over the years has been the leadership in Infrastructure Services business. Infrastructure Services have been a high growth, high impact segment and the market is poised for the next level of transformation with increased focus on variabilization of IT. TK Kurien, CEO, IT Business and Executive Director, Wipro Ltd. said, "We see tremendous value in establishing global practices, integrated delivery, program governance and global career opportunities for our teams. A single entity across the globe will further accelerate our growth in the infrastructure business and build on our leadership position."


IBM TO BUILD NEW IT CENTER IN MALAYSIA...IBM will invest RM 1 billion (approx. US$315 million)over the next six years to build a new information technology (IT) Global Delivery Center in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, creating up to 3,000 new highly skilled jobs. The Cyberjaya center will provide competency based services, as well as multilingual capabilities, and be a Center of Excellence (CoE) for software distribution and packaging. To help develop the necessary local skills, IBM is basing an international leadership team in Cyberjaya to ensure ongoing sharing and development of knowledge and expertise.

Diligenta, a leading business process outsourcing (BPO) provider in the UK and a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will assume administration responsibility for 3.2 million policies for Friends Life, a provider of pensions, investments and insurance. The agreement, effective March 1, 2012, is worth US$2.2 billion (£1.37 billion) over 15 years. This major business win underpins Diligenta's expertise in the life and pensions industry and will increase the total number of policies administered by Diligenta to just under 8 million.

Unisys Corporation announced that its Australian and New Zealand subsidiaries have signed agreements with McDonald's to provide provide service desk, on-site and remote support services to McDonald's chain of more than 1,000 company-owned and franchised restaurants across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific region, including New Caledonia, Fiji, Tahiti, American Samoa and Samoa. The five-year contracts have an estimated combined value of approximately US$30.5 million (AU$30 million) and represent new business for Unisys.

BNY Mellon has been selected by Bridgewater Associates to provide middle- and back-office outsourcing services for approximately $125 billion of assets. BNY Mellon will support Bridgewater's strategy of delivering diversified alpha and beta strategies for clients via its dedicated outsourcing platform--BNY Mellon OnCore(SM). Services will include a fully integrated data warehouse, plus trade processing, portfolio accounting, and derivatives processing.

ACCENTURE ROLLS OUT PRIVATE CLOUD SOLUTION FOR SAP APPLICATIONS... Accenture announced that it has developed a private cloud solution in support of SAP applications that allows businesses and organizations to easily migrate to a lower cost, private cloud infrastructure. The solution features a transparent migration of two key SAP solutions--the SAP ERP application and the SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW) component--to a managed private cloud infrastructure. SAP ERP provides enhanced capabilities for finance, human capital management, sales, procurement, and other key enterprise functions.

CLOUD COMPUTING COULD CUT CARBON EMISSIONS BY HALF, STUDY SAYS...Major companies could reduce their carbon emissions by as much as 50 percent and significantly increase energy efficiency by shifting to cloud computing, according to a new report. In an analysis of UK, French, and U.S. firms that have used cloud computing for at least two years, the Carbon Disclosure Project calculated that by 2020 U.S. companies with annual revenues of more than $1 billion can save $12.3 million in energy costs and achieve carbon reductions equivalent to 200 million barrels of oil a year if they shift to shared data networks.

ACCENTURE COMPLETES ZENTA ACQUISTION...Accenture has completed its acquisition of Zenta, a leading provider of residential and commercial mortgage processing services in the United States. Through the acquisition, Zentas approximately 3,700 employees in the United States, India and the Philippines have joined Accenture. Plans for the acquisition were originally announced on August 22, 2011. The acquisition significantly expands Accentures ability to help lenders, servicers and real estate investment trusts (REITS) retool and streamline their operations, enhance customer experience, and improve profitability in response to new market conditions, while enhancing Accentures business process outsourcing (BPO) portfolio.

ATOS FORMS CHINA CLOUD JOINT VENTURE...Atos, the European IT services company and UFIDA INTERNATIONAL HOLDINGS, LTD[SSE UFIDA Software], the Chinese management software solutions in Asia-Pacific, jointly announced that they formed a Joint Venture, YUNANOTM in order to address the growing Cloud market in Europe and China, targeting in priority midsize organizations, whether stand alone or subsidiaries of large corporations. YUNANOTM will provide services for customers that can be localized with one-stop products, services and cloud applications ranging from financial system, ERP management software to IT consultation. The new entity will have its dedicated Cloud ERP resources and R&D capabilities. The two companies invested 5,7 million euros for the joint venture YUNANOTM, of which Atos has 70% and UFIDA has 30% shares of stocks respectively. The Joint Venture will be headquartered in Bezons, near Paris.

The United Kingdom Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has awarded Accenture a contract for up to seven years to deliver application development and maintenance services for its customer-facing systems including delivery of elements of the IT solution for Universal Credit, the U.K. governments program to simplify working-age benefits systems into a single streamlined system. The value of the Accenture contract could range from UK50 million to UK70 million per year, depending on Departmental demand for IT services.

Wipro Technologies has been chosen by Premier Foods, the United Kingdoms largest food producer, as a strategic technology partner. Premier Foods plc produces and markets over 40 iconic British brands. As part of the five year strategic relationship, Wipro will be supporting both systems and processes to enhance efficiency of Premier Foods supply chain.

SYMPHONY EXPANDS SOUTH AMERICAN FOOTPRINT WITH ACQUISITION...Symphony Services has executed an agreement to purchase JPC Software, a provider of IT solutions, consulting and support based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Founded in 2002, JPC Software provides sales, software support and professional services. Its mission is to help organizations align their IT infrastructure, services and management with strategic business goals and objectives while improving the quality of service and reducing costs. The Argentina center will allow broader support to complement the company's existing global delivery centers in India, China and the United States. By adding JPC Software, Symphony is poised to dramatically expand global delivery capability for its leading Independent Software Vendor (ISV) product development and support offerings in the dynamic and rapidly growing South American market.

NIST ISSUES CLOUD ROADMAP...The National Institute of Standards and Technology issued a draft of its roadmap designed to help federal agencies not only to adopt cloud computing but to support the further development of the cloud computing model. NIST said the draft publication defines high-priority requirements for standards, official guidance and technology developments that need to be met in order for agencies to accelerate their migration of existing IT systems to the cloud computing model. "A key contribution of the roadmap effort is to focus the discussion to achieve a clear understanding between the government and private sector, particularly on the specific technical steps--standards, guidance and technology solutions--needed to move federal IT from its current early-cloud state to a cloud-based foundation, as envisioned in the Federal Cloud Computing Strategy," Dawn Leaf, NIST senior advisor for cloud computing, said in a statement accompanying the draft.

CDC LAUNCHES SAAS SOLUTION IN CHINA...CDC Software Corporation, a global enterprise software provider of on-premise and cloud deployments, announced the launch of Platinum PayOne on the Cloud, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) Compensation and Benefits (C&B) solution supporting the Microsoft Windows Azure platform, that offers low total cost of ownership to small and medium-size (SMB) businesses in mainland China.

CSC has signed a five-and-a-half year information technology (IT) operations outsourcing contract renewal and expansion with Educational Testing Service (ETS), the leader in advancing quality and equity in education for people worldwide. The agreement was signed in the second quarter of CSC fiscal year 2012, and has an estimated value of more than $200 million assuming all options are exercised.

Accenture has signed five-year outsourcing agreements with both Banco Popolare Group (BP.MI) and Alba Leasing under which Accenture will provide application management and infrastructure services to support the two companies’ leasing operations. Banco Popolare is Italy's fourth largest bank by assets and Alba Leasing is among the country's top 10 leasing companies by new contracts. Under a separate agreement, Accenture will acquire Itaca Service from Banco Popolare Group's subsidiary, Banca Italease. Itaca Service provides IT services to the Group's leasing companies and to Alba Leasing. Thirty-three employees are expected to transfer to Accenture.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has selected HP Enterprise Services as a prime contractor for the VA Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology (T4) program as well as the Enrollment Modernization Technical Support task order under the Veterans Relationship Management (VRM) Information Technology Solutions and Support Services (ITSS) program contract vehicle. As prime contractor for T4 and VRM, HP will support the agency's enterprise-wide modernization to enable improved access to benefits and healthcare for veterans.

WNS (Holdings) Limited announced a 20-month extension in the outsourcing contract with its founder company, British Airways (BA), U.K.'s largest flag carrier airline. The implementation of Straight-Through-Processing (STP) technology will help Erie Family Life, a division of Erie Insurance, expedite the process for customers to apply for and receive life insurance policies.

She was also elected a member of the board of directors, effective at that time. Ms. Rometty is currently IBM senior vice president and group executive for sales, marketing and strategy. She succeeds Samuel J. Palmisano, who currently is IBM chairman, president and chief executive officer. Mr. Palmisano will remain chairman of the board.

ORACLE BUYS RIGHTNOW...Oracle has entered into an agreement to acquire RightNow Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based customer service, for $43.00 per share or approximately $1.5 billion net of RightNow's cash and debt. Together, Oracle and RightNow can enable a superior customer experience at every contact and across every channel.

GENPACT OPENS DELIVERY CENTER IN DUBAI...Genpact Limited announced the opening of its Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) global delivery center. The 80-seat modern center set up in Dubai as a licensed partner of Dubai Outsource Zone (DOZ) will provide business process services such as claims processing, customer service, collections, treasury operations, finance and accounting, analytics and risk-related services for clients in the Middle East and North Africa. Genpact says it hopes to grow the center into a 500-person operation in the next three years. Genpact now has delivery centers in 17 countries around the globe.

Accenture has signed a multi-year agreement to provide application development and management services to Anglo American. Accenture will manage Anglo American's global suite of commercial applications across group functions and its platinum, copper, nickel, iron ore, thermal coal and metallurgical coal commodities business. Under the agreement, Accenture will provide IT functional consulting and development services to design, build and test applications in addition to ongoing application maintenance and support.

Unisys Corporation been awarded a contract to transition 5,000 users at the Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to Google Apps for Government, a cloud-based email and collaboration solution. The move to the cloud-based platform is designed to allow INL employees to share information technology infrastructure, resources and applications while helping them to collaborate internally and externally.

Scotwest and Capital Credit Unions chose TCS BaNCS Core Banking as their IT platform to transform their infrastructure to address emerging opportunities in Community Banking in the United Kingdom. Cussco, the joint company set up by both these credit unions, will deploy the common platform and support its entire IT architecture throughout the UK to serve its existing customers as well as seek growth avenues, as new regulations open more opportunities in community banking.

HP OFFERS CUSTOMERS CLOUD FINANCING OPTION...HP has launched a new global HP CloudSystem Financing offer for qualified customers transitioning to the cloud. This set of offers is made available through HP Financial Services, the company's leasing and asset management subsidiary. Part of HP's program to provide up to $2 billion in financing for cloud projects, the offer allows enterprise and government clients to build their cloud environments while conserving capital for growth initiatives. CSC CHAIRMAN, CEO RETIRES...CSC announced that Michael W. Laphen has informed the Board of Directors of his plan to retire as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Laphen, 61, will continue to serve until a successor is named and the CEO transition is complete, but no later than October 31, 2012. The Board has formed a search committee to identify a new CEO and has retained Heidrick & Struggles, a nationally recognized executive recruiting firm, to advise the Board on potential candidates.

ACS, A Xerox Company will help the Department of Veterans Affairs make it easier and faster for veterans to file disability claims and receive benefits. Under a $54 million, three-year contract, ACS will convert the VA's paper-based claims processing system into an electronic one. The new system will significantly reduce backlogs and more accurately process initial, increased benefits, pension and dependency claims.

The Commercial Bank of Qatar has signed an agreement with Tata Consultancy Services, or TCS, to establish the outsourcing of a number of the Bank's back office processing and information technology services. The agreement has an initial term of 5 years, and provides the basis for a strategic relationship between Commercialbank and TCS under which TCS can also provide services to other companies affiliated to Commercialbank.

GENPACT ACQUIRES HIGH PERFORMANCE PARTNERS...Genpact Limited has acquired High Performance Partners, LLC (HPP) and its Quantum Mortgage Technology. Genpact had previously announced an initial equity investment in HPP in March 2010 and now owns 100 percent of the company. Genpact will leverage the Quantum software platform to support its Mortgage Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) offering. The Quantum platform helps originators and lenders to automate and streamline major elements of the loan origination process, resulting in a shorter loan lifecycle and a more transparent mortgage asset.

HP TO PROVIDE CLOUD-BASED SAP APPLICATIONS...HP and SAP AG announced an agreement for HP Enterprise Services to provide cloud-based delivery of SAP applications that enable enterprises to deploy applications in a scalable and affordable manner. The first SAP application to be delivered by HP Enterprise Services via its cloud platform is the SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) rapid-deployment solution, which can enhance the productivity of enterprise sales, marketing and service professionals. Delivered via HP Enterprise Services' commercial data centers around the globe, HP bundles the necessary infrastructure, platform and application services in an as-a-service model, enabling clients to pay on a per-seat basis for what they need to run the applications and processes.

ADP ACQUIRES THE RIGHTTHING...ADP has acquired privately held The RightThing, a leading recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) provider. The RightThing is also the parent company of AIRS, a widely recognized leader in recruitment training and technology. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The RightThing acquisition not only broadens ADP's HR Business Process Outsourcing (HR BPO) capabilities, but also complements its existing applicant tracking and talent management solutions.

INFOSYS 2ND QUARTER REVENUES UP...Infosys Ltd., India's second-largest software exporter, reported second-quarter profit that beat analysts' estimates as U.S. customers outsourced more services. Net income rose 9.8 percent to 19.1 billion rupees ($387 million), or 33.36 rupees a share, in the three months ended Sept. 30, from 17.4 billion rupees, or 30.40 rupees, a year earlier. Profit beat the 18.7 billion rupee median of 35 analysts' estimates,

IBM INTRODUCES NEW PRIVATE CLOUD PORTFOLIO...IBM is unveiling a new portfolio of cloud solutions, allowing organizations to move beyond virtualization to quickly deploy and manage private clouds. The SmartCloud Foundation portfolio contains a core set of private-cloud functions distilled from thousands of IBM client engagements and millions of cloud-based transactions IBM manages every day. The portfolio is designed to help both entry-level firms and more sophisticated clients quickly adopt private clouds from scratch or transform their current virtualized systems into highly efficient cloud infrastructures.

Westpac New Zealand has renewed its strategic IT outsourcing agreement with IBM for a further five years to 2017. Under the new contract, which expands on an agreement first signed in 2000, IBM will deploy new technologies to improve customer service and sustainability, and upgrade existing systems.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded CSC a task order to continue providing emergency priority telecommunications services. The task order has a one-year base period, three one-year options and one four-month option, and was awarded during CSC's fiscal 2012 first quarter. The estimated total value is $86 million.

Deutsche Telekom, one of the world's leading telecommunications companies and Capgemini have signed a business intelligence (BI) sourcing framework agreement for a period of five years. The central objectives of the agreement are to further consolidate IT services of the operating entity in Germany - Telekom Deutschland GmbH, reducing the level of in-house resource needed, by building a dedicated BI factory, as well as harmonizing the BI systems of the group.

The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has awarded Accenture Federal Services a five-year, $10.8 million contract to provide Oracle's PeopleSoft application support and hosting services. The contract supports bringing business intelligence, analytics and cost accounting to the commission.

IBM has signed an agreement a nearly eight-year, $80 million (CAD) contract to provide HR services for Air Canada employees, managers and retirees, including HR contact center, employee data management, employee travel support, payroll, benefits administration, leave management and certain recruiting services.

Trumbull provides premium collection and policy administration services to clients. It also has expertise in subrogation, a process in which an insurance company tries to collect from another party partially responsible for a claim. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Trumbull employees associated with the transaction have been offered comparable positions with ExlService. Trumbull has offices in Hartford, Conn., and Columbia, S.C.

ACS ACQUIRES SYMCOR'S U.S. OPERATIONS...ACS, a Xerox Company, is expanding its capabilities in the financial services industry with the acquisition of Symcor's U.S. operations. Symcor specializes in outsourcing services for financial institutions. Its offerings range from cash management services to statement and check processing. The acquisition enables financial institutions to adjust to the changing payment landscape from paper-based payments to electronic payments by incorporating Symcor's U.S. check and payment processing services into ACS' current suite of business process services.

HP GAINS CONTROL OF AUTONOMY...HP announced that it has acquired control of Autonomy Corporation plc. In a press release, the company said the acquisition positions HP as a leader in the large and growing enterprise information management space. Autonomy's software offerings power more than 25,000 customer accounts worldwide and, as part of HP, will provide high-value business solutions to help customers manage the explosion of unstructured and structured information. Autonomy offers solutions that are complementary across HP's enterprise offerings and strengthens the company's data analytics, cloud, industry and workflow management capabilities.

CAPGEMINI, GTNEXUS TEAM FOR BPO OFFERING...Capgemini and GT Nexus, a market leader in cloud supply chain technology, have signed a joint go-to-market BPO initiative to enable Supply Chain Orchestration. The two companies will collaboratively work to provide customers with supply chain solutions across both North America and Europe, enabled by the GT Nexus technology platform. This is a unique combination of a tier 1 BPO provider partnering with a leading cloud supply chain technology provider. The move is significant in strengthening Capgemini's collaborative supply chain network capabilities and its role as an independent provider of orchestrated supply chain services to a range of sectors through a managed services network.

ACCENTURE, NOKIA CLOSE SYMBIAN OUTSOURCING DEAL...Nokia and Accenture have closed the agreement for Nokia to outsource Symbian software development and support activities to Accenture. Under the agreement, originally announced on June 22, 2011, Accenture will provide Symbian-based software development and support services to Nokia at least until 2016 and also become the preferred supplier for Nokia in its transition to Windows Phone. Following the close, approximately 2,300 employees from China, Finland, India, the United Kingdom and the United States are transferring from Nokia to Accenture.

HP Enterprise Services announced the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) has signed a renewal service agreement to manage the state's Medicaid Management Information System. The $172 million, three-year renewal extension contract will help enable the state to transition to a managed care environment and continue to prepare for pending program changes in a cost-effective manner. The agreement extends HP's contract through June 2016.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded CSC a task order to continue providing emergency priority telecommunications services. This activity is in response to a White House directive to meet the needs of authorized National Security/Emergency Preparedness communications users under all levels of stress. Kingfisher, Europe's leading home improvement retailer and the third largest in the world, has extended its outsourcing and transformational partnership with Atos. Under the terms of this 4-year contract, Atos will provide desktop services, operational processing, technical administration and software roll out to Kingfisher IT Services in Continental Europe.

ACCENTURE REPORTS STRONG FOURTH QUARTER, FULL FISCAL YEAR...Accenture reported strong financial results for the fourth quarter and full 2011 fiscal year, ended Aug. 31, 2011, with record annual revenues, earnings per share, operating margin, free cash flow and new bookings. For the fourth quarter, net revenues were $6.7 billion, an increase of 23 percent in U.S. dollars compared with the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010. Diluted earnings per share were $0.91, an increase of 38 percent. For the full fiscal year, net revenues were $25.5 billion, an increase of 18 percent in U.S. dollars and 15 percent in local currency compared with fiscal 2010.

GENPACT GROWS IN SOUTH AFRICA...Genpact Limited has significantly grown its business in South Africa in the past 12 months, adding five new clients since the beginning of 2011. ZAO Hewlett-Packard AO announced an agreement with ROLF Group, a leading Russian importer and retailer of cars, to migrate ROLF's information technology (IT) and applications infrastructure to an HP cloud environment, enabling greater flexibility and aligning IT costs with business needs.. ROLF expects the move to result in substantial economic benefits, including the complete elimination of data center maintenance costs.

Capgemini has signed a three-year outsourcing contract - through its Capgemini Outsourcing Services subsidiary - with the Renault Group, becoming one of the car manufacturer's new preferred partners in outsourcing. Capgemini will take responsibility for optimizing and managing one quarter of the Renault Group's applications portfolio, over the entire application lifecycle. The project will involve over 180 Capgemini professionals and will include technical and functional updates and improvements, technical support, and applications development in Procurement, Quality and Sales.

HP Enterprise Services has signed a five-year extension of its agreement with Loan Value Group LLC (LVG) to provide full-scale contact center and customer support functions. The UK's Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has awarded a seven-year IT contract to Capgemini UK plc. HP OPENS 'CLOUD CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE'...HP has opened 19 HP Cloud Centers of Excellence established in 2011 at partner facilities throughout the United States, providing customers fast, convenient access to live demonstrations of HP cloud solutions. HP Cloud Centers of Excellence enable clients to gain firsthand knowledge of, and directly experience, the benefits of cloud computing technologies such as accelerated service delivery and operational efficiency. A total of 40 centers are expected to open by the end of next month.

ACS-XEROX CONTINUES EUROPEAN EXPANSION...ACS, a Xerox Company, announced its intent to acquire the Italian-based, multi-lingual customer care firm XL World, further expanding its business process outsourcing capabilities across Europe. Since it was founded in 2000, XL World has developed deep industry expertise in the telecommunications sector while delivering BPO services from offshore operations. The operations and 1,500 employees of XL World will join ACS' recent acquisition of Italian-based Innova Consulting and Netherlands-based Unamic/HCN.

NEW CLOUD COMMERCE OFFERINGS FROM IBM...IBM announced new cloud and on-premise offerings that will help organizations respond automatically to shifting consumer and business trends. The new solutions, Commerce-as-a-Service and Social Media Marketing, combine technology from key acquisitions such as Unica, Coremetrics and Sterling Commerce with IBM research and development. These new software solutions are designed to help companies intelligently automate supplier and trading partner interactions, automatically turn marketplace insights into marketing and sales actions and connect online, mobile and social channels to physical stores.

GENPACT TO BUY MEDIA RESEARCH FIRM... Genpact Limited has signed a definitive agreement to acquire EmPower Research, an integrated media and business research company with strong capabilities in social media research, media monitoring and measurement. This acquisition will add significant expertise and intellectual property to Genpact's Smart Decision Services business, comprising analytics, research, reengineering and risk management services. Closing is expected by the end of the month subject to satisfaction of certain customary conditions. Terms of the deal are not disclosed.

CAPGEMINI, EMC FORM CLOUD ALLIANCE...Capgemini and EMC Corporation announced a strategic alliance to jointly identify and build multiple cloud-based IT-as-a-Service offerings. Under the terms of a five-year agreement, both companies will jointly work to identify and build tailored solutions based on Capgemini's global service capabilities and EMC's best-of-breed cloud optimized information management technologies.

ACCENTURE WINS 10-YEAR THOMAS COOK DEAL...Accenture has been awarded a 10-year technology consulting and outsourcing contract by the Thomas Cook Group plc, which includes the transformation and management of the travel group's technology infrastructure across Europe. The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. Under the agreement, Accenture will design and implement an agile IT infrastructure that integrates the travel services company's separate European IT structures into a single group organization. This new infrastructure will draw on public and private cloud technologies to help transform IT operations, processes, methods and systems to provide a platform for the efficient growth of the business.

ALSBRIDGE TO PARTICIPATE IN CORE CLOUD FORUM...Leading advisory firm Alsbridge, Inc., announced its participation in the 2011 cloud discussion forum hosted by the Centre for Outsourcing Research and Education (CORE). Outsourcing professionals from around the world are expected to attend the forum, which will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 in Toronto, Ontario. The State of Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget has awarded a contract to Unisys to build and maintain a new child welfare services system to serve the needs of thousands of children and social workers in Michigan. The Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System will provide an integrated database for use by Michigan Department of Human Services workers to track the cases of approximately 15,000 children involved in the state's foster care and adoption services programs. The new contract was awarded in the first quarter of this year and will run three years, and the State of Michigan may extend it for two additional one-year periods at its discretion. This contract has a value of approximately $30 million, and the State may order additional services that could bring the total potential value of the contract to approximately $47 million.

Hewlett-Packard Australia Pty ltd. has signed a technology services agreement to design, build and maintain a portion of the information, communication and technology (ICT) systems for the South Australia Government's next-generation digital hospital in Adelaide, Australia. The new Royal Adelaide Hospital -- a state-of-the-art, 800-bed hospital -- is a public-private collaborative project that will become the benchmark for Australia's new medical institutions. In addition to enabling clinical staff to deliver better patient care, the new hospital is expected to cost the state government less to run in terms of nonclinical support services, compared with the hospital that it will replace.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced that Deutsche Bank has selected the company as a strategic partner for their Production Management Transformation Initiative within their Capital Markets Business Unit. To achieve this transformation, TCS will deliver a global application service desk, service operations and all other ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) services to the bank at locations across seven countries -- USA, UK, Germany, Hungary, Philippines, Singapore and India.

Unisys Corporation announced its Unisys China subsidiary has been named systems integrator to support the expansion and modernisation of Chengdu Airport, including work on the airport's new Terminal 2. Terminal 2 will provide additional capacity for the busiest airport in Western China, and China's sixth largest airport overall, which predicts annual passenger volume will grow 53 million by 2015.

CSC ACQUIRES APPLABS...CSC acquired AppLabs Technologies Private Limited, the world's largest pure-play software testing and quality management service provider. The acquisition vaults CSC into a leadership role in providing application testing services in the high growth discrete testing market, supporting the company's multi-year strategic growth plan. AppLabs brings a strong portfolio of emerging technologies and proprietary methodologies and tools, and a specialized sales force to CSC which significantly enhances CSC's capabilities in application testing services as well as shortening time-to-market. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

GENPACT LAUNCHES MAJOR U.S. TALENT DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE...Genpact Limited announced plans to increase its investment of dollars and man-hours in training and talent development in the U.S. Genpact has doubled its U.S. workforce in the last 18 months and expects to continue to increase its U.S. workforce through aggressive recruiting initiatives for business development, operations, analytics and reengineering positions. At the core of this effort to build talent in the U.S., Genpact is focused on providing its employees with leadership training, professional skills training, and numerous courses and professional certifications to strengthen domain expertise and provide higher-level services to its hundreds of U.S.-based clients. To help lead this initiative, Genpact has appointed Cindy Baudoin in a new role as training and development leader for the Americas. Baudoin was previously the talent management leader for Headstrong and brings more than 20 years of training program development to the position. She is based in Austin, Texas.

CHINA TO SPEND US$154 BILLION ON CLOUD COMPUTING...China is set to pour US$154 billion to develop cloud computing hubs, according to Asia's first "Cloud Readiness Index," prepared and published by the Asia Cloud Computing Association. Although restrictive data protection laws are preventing the building of a global Cloud Computing industry in China, this investment will help the nation improve its index rating in the near future. The Index shows that a large number of cloud service providers are setting up data centres in Hong Kong making it the North Asia data hub. The South Korean government has also decided to invest US$500m in both public and private sector cloud initiatives, and intends to raise their investment to US$2 billion by 2014.

ACCENTURE SETTLES LAWSUIT WITH U.S. JUSTICE DPARTMENT...Accenture has agreed with the U.S. Department of Justice to settle a lawsuit originally filed in 2006 (United States ex rel. Norman Rille and Neal Roberts v. Accenture LLP) for $63.68 million. The lawsuit claimed that, in work for the U.S. federal government, Accenture received payments, resale revenue or other benefits through alliance agreements with technology vendors that were not sufficiently disclosed and that were not allowed on federal contracts.

IBM has renegotiated its outsourcing contract with Vodafone Essar and signed an extended deal estimated at around $1 billion to manage IT systems for the India's third-biggest phone firm until 2017. In 2007, Vodafone had signed an over $400-million, five-year outsourcing contract with IBM. The contract was to expire next year.

CSC has signed a ten-year contract with a U.S. based global multi-brand commercial products manufacturer to provide information technology (IT) and infrastructure managed services. The contract is a global 10 year agreement with an estimated value of more than $900 million and was effective on September 1, 2011.

WNS (Holdings) Limited has signed a finance and accounting services conract with AAA of Northern California, Nevada and Utah (AAA NCNU), the second largest regional member club of AAA, a federation of affiliated automobile clubs throughout North America, for Finance and Accounting (F&A) services.

Infosys BPO announced a five year renewal of its contract with Alcoa Global Business Services (GBS). Alcoa is the world's leading producer of aluminum and alumina with over USD 21 billion in revenues. Infosys BPO's partnership with Alcoa started in 2004 and has grown to include services across Finance and Accounting (F&A) and Knowledge Services (KS) processes.

Cognizant will provide a range of application services to Cambridge Assessment, a not-for-profit examination group owned by Cambridge University. As part of this multi-year, multi-million pound engagement, Cognizant will work with Cambridge Assessment and help rationalize and consolidate its portfolio of applications, and deliver application maintenance and production support services to enable the organization to improve the management and processing of examinations.

Accenture has signed a US$16.5 million IT application services agreement with the European Parliament to develop, maintain and support a variety of applications across the Parliament's operations. The agreement is designed to support the European Parliament's overall information technology strategy and to drive greater operational efficiencies across the institution.

Nearly 40 international airlines operating to and from Australia have signed a two-year contract extension through 2016 with Unisys Australia to continue providing an advanced baggage reconciliation system at seven Australian international airports at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, Perth, Adelaide and the Gold Coast. The contract extension is worth more than AU$11million (approximately US$11.7million).

IBM LAUNCHES SMARTER ENERGY CLOUD IN IOWA...IBM and the City of Dubuque, Iowa today announced the availability of the Smarter Energy Cloud in Dubuque, Iowa. The cloud, or internet-based computing, will enable citizens to access information about their energy usage and habits and share best practices through an electricity portal/website over a six-month period. The electricity portal is now available to volunteer households in Dubuque. This application is part of the Smarter Electricity Pilot Study in which data will be collected and analyzed over the next several months, providing these volunteer households with information, insights, and actionable intelligence to potentially lower their energy costs.

CSC has signed a five-year contract with Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, to provide information technology (IT) infrastructure managed services. CSC will manage Ingalls Shipbuilding IT infrastructure services including data center operations, end user computing, service desk services, external partner management, information security, mobile technology services, networking, platform engineering, and telephony services.

Capgemini Norge AS has been chosen as EnterCard's partner to support its rapid growth ambitions. EnterCard is a Nordic company that issues credit cards on behalf of partners, or under its own consumer brand. Capgemini will be the main provider for application maintenance and development services supporting EnterCard to more rapidly deliver new innovative products to the market. The agreement runs for five years, at an estimated value of €30million. It entails delivery to all EnterCard's business in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Accenture will design, build and deploy a cloud-based self-assessment web portal for The Gender Equality Project(TGEP), a Swiss not-for-profit foundation that works with multinational companies to ensure equal opportunities for men and women in the workplace. The portal, which salesforce.com will run on its Heroku cloud platform as a service, is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2011.

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) awarded CSC two contracts to provide management, operational and logistical support for its Mail Transport Equipment Service Centers (MTESCs) located in Lakeville, Minn., and Barrington, N.J. The contracts, which have a three-year base and two two-year options, have an estimated combined seven-year value of $83 million. This contract was awarded to CSC during the first quarter of the company's fiscal year 2012. CSC will now operate nine of the 15 MTESCs in the United States.

MICROSOFT TO PARTNER WITH CHINA FIRM FOR CLOUD SERVICES...Microsoft and China's leading domestic Linux operating system provider, China Standard Software Co. Ltd. (CS2C), signed an agreement to jointly develop, market and sell solutions for the booming cloud-computing market in China. The primary goal of this agreement is to provide public and private cloud solutions to a diverse array of industries through a rich partner ecosystem. The mixed source solutions stemming from this collaboration will be built on Microsoft's Hyper-V Open Cloud architecture and will include support to run CS2C NeoKylin Linux Server products. While establishing market and technology collaboration, the two companies have also signed a mutually beneficial customer legal covenant agreement.

HP EXPANDS STORAGE FEDERATION CAPABILITY...HP has expanded its Converged Storage portfolio with HP Peer Motion, new federated storage software that enables clients to transparently move application workloads between disk systems in virtualized and cloud computing environments. IDC estimates that by 2012, 85 percent of new applications will be specifically designed to be accessed in the cloud. Agile delivery of these virtualized and cloud-based applications requires linking multiple storage systems together to act as a single entity. Called storage federation, this capability can eliminate the extra layer of virtualization appliances and, as a result, decrease cost, administration overhead and service-level risk within the data center architecture. HP also introduced new HP P10000 3PAR Storage Systems with features for the delivery of enterprise IT within public and private clouds, called IT-as-a-Service. These features include multitenancy for workload consolidation, expanded thin technologies for efficient capacity utilization and autonomic load rebalancing to drive enterprise agility.

ACCENTURE COMPLETES DUCK CREEK AQUISITION...Accenture has completed its acquisition of Duck Creek Technologies, a privately held company that specializes in software solutions for the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. Approximately 370 Duck Creek employees based in the United States and the United Kingdom are joining Accenture through the acquisition. Duck Creek will become part of Accenture Software, Accenture's dedicated software business.

HP NAMES NEW HEAD OF ENTERPRISE SERVICES...HP announced that it has appointed John Visentin as executive vice president of HP Enterprise Services, effective immediately. Visentin will be responsible for driving growth in HP Enterprise Services, which delivers technology infrastructure, applications and business services. He will become a member of the company's Executive Council, reporting directly to Leo Apotheker, HP president and chief executive officer. Visentin previously led HP Enterprise Services for the Americas. He replaces Tom Iannotti, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

ALSBRIDGE UNVEILS NEW CLOUD SERVICE PROVIDER PROFILES...Alsbridge, the industry leader in providing cloud sourcing advisory and benchmarking services to the buyers of cloud services, unveiled four new cloud service provider profiles from the Alsbridge Cloud Sourcing 100 Index. The State of Alabama has signed a five-year, $51 million contract with ACS, A Xerox Company, to administer the state’s existing card programs and provide a new system for distributing child support payments via a reloadable MasterCard debit card. The card, accepted at thousands of retailers and ATMs, will deliver funds to people faster than paper checks.

GENERAL DYNAMICS ACQUIRES VANGENT...General Dynamics has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Vangent Holding Corp., the parent company of Vangent, Inc., a leading provider of healthcare information-technology and business systems to federal agencies, in a cash transaction valued at approximately $960 million. Vangent is majority-owned by The Veritas Capital Fund III, L.P. Vangent will become part of General Dynamics Information Technology, which has been providing healthcare information-technology (IT) systems and solutions to federal, commercial and military customers for nearly 30 years. Vangent, Inc., based in Arlington, Va., primarily supports the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services, Education, Labor, State and Defense. The company's core offerings include health informatics and information exchange, electronic health records and data analytics, as well as BPO solutions. Vangent has more than 7,500 employees.

NIIT ACQUIRES SPANISH SOFTWARE SERVICES FIRM...NIIT Technologies Limited announced the acquisition of Proyecta Sistemas de Informacion S.A. (Proyecta), a software services company headquartered in Madrid. In a press release, the company said the acquisition enables NIIT Technologies to enhance its European footprint with Proyecta's successful experience in servicing industry leaders in the Travel and Financial Services segments. This coagulates NIIT Technologies front-end capabilities for larger European engagements and provides a gateway to the traditional Spanish speaking countries in Latin America.

DELL TEAMS WITH IKASYSTEMS ON HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS...Dell and ikaSystems have formed a strategic alliance to deliver advanced administration and care management solutions to healthcare payers. The companies say that by combining Dell's breadth of healthcare business process outsourcing (BPO) and technology services with ikaSystems' cloud-based, collaborative technology platform, payers will be able to quickly deploy a flexible, scalable platform to manage daily operations, help significantly reduce administrative costs and meet regulatory requirements with minimal upfront investment.

COGNIZANT NAMED TOP SUPPLIER BY SEARS HOLDINGS...Cognizant has been named a 2010 Partner in Progress for Sears Holdings Corporation. Cognizant received the award for providing a spectrum of information technology services for Sears Holdings, including Enterprise Service Desk services as well as development and testing for data warehousing and business intelligence, e-commerce, and mobile applications.

Australia's Department of Health and Ageing has selected Accenture to design and implement the country’s Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR) system. The initiative will span all Australia-based health systems and enable patients with a single record to manage care. modernization support to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the past.

The state of Florida is projected to save up to $15 million and streamline its communications systems with a statewide email service provided by ACS, A Xerox Company. For the first time, all Florida state agencies will use the same email system, eliminating 30 separate systems. It is also the first statewide private cloud email solution using Microsoft Exchange 2010, which has the security to be compliant with HIPAA and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) standards and the scalability so the state can make the solution available to local government agencies.

As a result of moving to cloud computing, Russell's licensee stores can now access and share information regardless of their location. They have instant access to cloud-based social networking and collaboration tools, including file storing and sharing, email, instant messaging and activity management. COGNIZANT POSTS DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH IN Q2...Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation, a leading provider of information technology, consulting, and business process outsourcing services, said revenues for the second quarter 2011 rose to $1.485 billion, up 34.4% from the year-ago quarter and 8.3% sequentially. Net income was $208.0 million, or $0.67 per diluted share, compared to $172.2 million, or $0.56 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2010. Net headcount addition for the quarter exceeded 7,100.

INTEL INVESTS IN CLOUD RESEARCH CENTERS...Intel has made a $30 million investment in two new cloud computing research centers at Carnegie Mellon University. The company has invested in a five-year program to fund the new Intel Science and Technology academic research labs, which will focus on cloud computing and embedded computing research. The research aims to provide open source innovations to better analyse data and provide users with useful real-time information on their surroundings.

WNS GROUP CEO GETS SOCIAL ENTRENEURSHIP AWARD...WNS Group Chief Executive Officer Keshav R. Murugesh, was recognized with the Social Entrepreneurship award at Asia's Best CSR Practices Awards 2011, held at Suntec, Singapore. The IRS competed its long-time IT services-related suite of indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contracts, called TIPSS-4 ITS, which have a 10-year period of performance (one base-year and nine one-year options). These contracts are the primary procurement vehicles for technology-related services within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and other Treasury bureaus. Thirty-three companies were selected as prime contractors on this multiple-award contract among the industry's best competitors, including Accenture Federal Services.

Mercer and Extend Health Inc., operator of the largest private Medicare exchange in the country, announced that the two firms have signed a national referral agreement, effective immediately. The agreement formalizes a multi-year relationship between the two companies in which both firms have helped numerous employers design and implement innovative solutions to managing health care costs for Medicare-eligible retirees while increasing retirees’ choice and buying power. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

TeleTech Holdings, Inc. has been selected by Sabre Hospitality Solutions, a global technology company serving the hospitality industry, to provide customer innovation solutions for multiple hotel brands around the world. TeleTech will provide customer relationship management support for inquiries and reservations under the client's private label brands. The program will support contact center services for global hospitality property owners in six languages. TeleTech is also implementing a comprehensive up-sell program. TeleTech will implement its Hosted Cloud Technology solution to manage customer interactions in both traditional and TeleTech@Home virtual workforce settings.

McCamish Systems LLC, an Infosys BPO company specializing in insurance and retirement business process solutions, announced the signing of a multi-year agreement with Phoenix Life Insurance Company, a Hartford based insurer that provides life insurance and annuity products to the U.S. market. IBM CREATES SERVICE INNOVATION LAB...IBM announced the creation of the Services Innovation Lab (SIL), a new global lab that will initially comprise about 200 technology experts hand-picked from around the company. The lab will accelerate the expansion of real-time analytics and software automation in both IBM's technology services offerings and its global services delivery capabilities, the company's press release stated. GENPACT EXPANDS OPERATIONS INTO BRAZIL...Genpact Limited announced the opening of operations in Brazil, its first location in South America. Located in Sao Paulo, Genpact is now providing services for Astra Zeneca, with plans to serve additional global corporations for their Brazilian businesses as well as establish business operations for the burgeoning Brazil-to-Brazil market. Genpact is also providing IT services to a financial services client. ACS ACQUIRES INNOVA CONSULTING'S ITALIAN FACILITIES...ACS, a Xerox Company, is expanding its global capabilities with the acquisition of the Italian-based call center and business process services assets of Innova Consulting. ACS' latest acquisition will immediately begin providing business process services to Zurich Connect, the direct-to-consumer and online insurance brand of Zurich, as part of a five-year, $32 million outsourcing agreement to meet customer demand in the Italian market. The acquisition provides ACS with its first operations facility in Italy with a 180-person call center and business process capability in the city of Cagliari on the island of Sardinia.

CSC TEAMS WITH ARIA ON CLOUD SUBSCRIPTION BILLING...CSC and Aria Systems announced a global agreement to collaborate on cloud subscription billing and recurring revenue management. As part of the agreement, CSC has adopted the Aria Systems platform as the foundation of a cloud-based digital monetization service, to be offered initially in the U.S. and Europe. The joint solution will provide large and small organizations seeking to sell their goods and services over the Internet with a more efficient way to monetize their products and services, while ensuring efficient integration into existing operations.

New Deals

Accenture has entered into an agreement with Intertek, a leading global provider of quality and safety solutions, to provide Intertek with global IT and finance and accounting (F&A) services on an outsourced basis. The agreement includes the provision of technology infrastructure, application management and back-office accounting services. Financial details were not disclosed. Under the global agreement, Accenture will provide F&A business process outsourcing (BPO) services to Intertek through an Accenture global delivery centre in Delhi, India. The agreement includes services currently delivered by Intertek across ten English speaking countries and the programme will be implemented over the next two years.

The Motion Picture and Television Fund (MPTF) and Dell Services have signed a seven-year agreement for Dell to oversee and deliver a full range of information technology (IT) solutions for MPTF. The agreement is designed to drive greater efficiencies across MPTF's IT operations and enhance the accessibility and value of the information it uses to provide services. To deliver these benefits, Dell will provide cloud-based hosting of MPTF's MEDITECH Health Care Information System (HCIS) through Dell's MSite solution, as well as fully-managed disaster recovery through Dell's JSite solution.

L'Oreal, a leading global cosmetics and beauty company has awarded a three-and-a-half year procurement co-sourcing contract to Xchanging. As part of the contract, Xchanging will manage a significant amount of indirect procurement on behalf of L'Oreal across five countries; France, the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain. The contract runs to 31st December 2014. Xchanging will operate on a co-sourcing basis working alongside L'Oreal's purchasing team to streamline purchasing processes and improve overall quality and cost.

TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC, UK's leading provider fixed line broadband and voice telephony services, has selected Wipro BPO as one of its strategic partners for its outsourced contact center operations. Wipro Technologies is the Global Information Technology, Consulting and Outsourcing business of Wipro Limited. Wipro will be responsible for the creation of a new service center in India to support the group's resident customers. Wipro will also work alongside TalkTalk to continue to improve the overall customer experience, including the implementation of new CRM technologies.

GSA FIRST AGENCY TO MIGRATE TO CLOUD-BASED GOOGLE APPS...Unisys Corporation announced that it has helped the General Services Administration (GSA) successfully migrate all of its 17,000 email users to Google Apps for Government, a secure cloud-based email and collaboration platform. The transition makes GSA the first federal government agency to migrate all of its employees to a cloud-based email solution. Based on the success of its work with the GSA and other agencies, Unisys also announced the availability of its Collaborative Office Solutions – Google Apps for Government.


ACER BUYS US-BASED CLOUD COMPUTING FIRM...Taiwan's Acer Inc will buy US-based cloud computing firm iGware Inc for $320 million, the fifth-largest ever Taiwanese buyout of a US company, as it seeks to move beyond its core hardware manufacturing business. The world's No.2 PC maker said it was also in initial talks with Japanese game firm Nintendo, a major client of iGware, over potential cooperation after the deal, but did not give details.


CAPGEMINI LAUNCHES SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT SERVICE...Capgemini Group launched a new comprehensive Social Media Management service, to help businesses take advantage of online social interactions. Responding to the vast growth in social media volumes, Capgemini has created a customizable all-in-one solution to offer real-time web listening, analysis and customer outreach. These social media conversations can be acted on in real time via integration to Capgemini's onshore and offshore Customer Interaction centers. The feedback can then be used directly to modify processes, optimize marketing campaigns and improve the overall customer experience.

COGNIZANT ACQUIRES INDIA OPERATIONS OF CORELOGIC...Cognizant will acquire CoreLogic Global Services Private Limited, the India-based captive operations of CoreLogic, a leading provider of information, analytics, and business services. The purchase price will consist of a cash payment of approximately $50 million, plus adjustments for working capital and other charges or credits which will be determined at closing. As part of the transaction, CoreLogic and Cognizant will enter into a services agreement with a minimum revenue commitment of $324 million, plus applicable inflation adjustments, over five years with various renewal and extension rights, under which Cognizant will provide a range of services to CoreLogic globally.

New Deals

ACS signed a contract with Air Liquide USA LLC to increase the company's information technology capabilities in North America. Aimed at providing support for expanding business operations, the multi-million dollar agreement is for five-years with a two-year option. Under the terms of the contract, ACS will deliver a range of managed IT services to Air Liquide, the world leader in gases for industry, health and the environment, including private cloud services, transition IT services to the proprietary ACS Management Platform (AMP) to help align the company's IT infrastructure with its overall business goals and desktop engineering and service desk support.

IBM has entered into a seven-year services agreement with The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company (Manulife) valued at close to $90M CAD annually (US$665 million over the life of the pact)to support Manulife Financial's ongoing business growth, as well as continued evolution of its information technology operations. The agreement will advance Manulife infrastructure services for mainframe, midrange server and storage, desktop services, business continuity, disaster recovery and security. Manulife will also evaluate, as part of ongoing joint innovation, the application of cloud computing and high-performance computing environments.

HP Enterprise Services has been selected to provide information technology solutions for the U.S. Department of Justice under the Information Technology Support Services 4 (ITSS-4) contract. HP Enterprise Services is one of 20 companies that may compete for task orders under the $1.1 billion indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract. The ITSS-4 award provides a base year period of performance concluding Sept. 30, with six available one-year option periods.

Mecom Group Plc has entered into an agreement with HCL Technologies and HCL Great Britain to outsource a significant portion of its IT operations. HCL will initially provide Mecom with infrastructure and applications management services in the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway. The five-year contract will begin in the first half of 2012 and Mecom will have an option to renew the deal for a further two years.

The Norwegian Armed Forces has awarded Accenture a three-and-a-half-year, $70 million contract to implement an SAP® solution to better support core processes in logistics. Under the terms of the contract, Accenture will design and configure a solution based on the SAP for Defense & Security solution portfolio to enable the client to expand and improve its solutions and processes in force generation and structure maintenance, procurement and supply chain management, heavy equipment maintenance and investment management.

CSC has signed a contract with ArcelorMittal, the world's leading steel company, to provide information technology (IT) infrastructure managed services. The agreement provides the framework for common and country-specific agreements by the local entities of each party, and will become effective upon the signing of the different accession agreements. The contract has a five-year base with two two-year extension options. Financial terms were not disclosed.

DELL ACQUIRES FORCE10 NETWORKS...Dell has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Force10 Networks, Inc., a leader in high-performance datacenter networking. Dell says Force10's networking capabilities complement Dell's datacenter solutions portfolio, enabling it to offer customers a broader range of enterprise offerings. Force10 is a global technology leader in datacenter, service provider, and enterprise networking. It is nearly a $200-million company, based on trailing 12 months revenue, with approximately 80 percent of its business in North America and operating in over 60 countries worldwide. Its Open Cloud Networking is based on open standards, automation and virtualization and is consistent with Dell's design philosophy.

IBM EXPANDS CLOUD SERVICES IN JAPAN, ASIA-PACIFIC...IBM announced a broad expansion of its cloud computing services for customers in Japan and in the Asia Pacific region with the opening of a new IBM Cloud Data Center in Japan and a dedicated data center for LotusLive, IBM's cloud collaboration service. The new facilities will extend IBM's globally-integrated cloud delivery network of cloud computing centers that serve in over 50 countries around the world with centers based in Singapore, Germany, Canada, and the United States; and 13 global cloud labs, of which seven are based in Asia Pacific -- China, India, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore.

CAPGEMINI, MICROSOFT TEAM TO OFFER CLOUD SERVICES IN 22 COUNTRIES...Capgemini Group and Microsoft Corp. announced a global plan that will bring the expertise of Capgemini's consulting, technology and outsourcing services to help deploy customer solutions on the Windows Azure platform. As part of the agreement, Capgemini will market and deliver services around Windows Azure, Microsoft’s cloud platform, mobilizing Capgemini's full lifecycle capabilities in orchestrating, designing, developing and running cloud-based application services. As a business priority for both firms, the joint plan will offer Windows Azure solutions across 22 countries with a first focus on the UK, the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, France, Belgium and Brazil.

UPDATE ON STATE STREET'S IT TRANSFORMATION PROGRAM...As part of its multi-year business operations and IT transformation program, State Street Corporation has expanded its relationship with Wipro Technologies and IBM to support components of its technology infrastructure and application maintenance and support systems. Approximately 320 non-client facing State Street IT employees will transition to IBM or Wipro and another approximately 530 non-client facing IT employees will be provided with severance and outplacement services as their roles are eliminated over the course of the next 18-20 months. Nearly all of the impacted employees are located in North America. State Street currently employs approximately 4,000 IT employees worldwide.

Accenture has secured a three year contract with Enel Energia, the leading supplier in the liberalized Italian energy market, to provide business process outsourcing (BPO) services in support of Enel Energia's customer care operations. The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. Accenture will provide a range of back office services including customer acquisition, billing, payments and credit, and customer inquiry management. The work will cover Enel Energia's consumer and small and medium sized enterprise (SME) segments in the electricity and gas markets.

Mumbai-based Indian software company Hexaware Technologies Ltd. said one of its existing clients in the U.S. has extended a technology outsourcing contract for five more years in one of its largest ever deals, with potential revenue of $177 million. In a statement, Hexaware said it has received new business worth $100 million through the deal. The rest is from extending the existing contract, it said, without naming the client.

Larimer County, Colorado, the seventh largest county in Colorado, has awarded ADP a five-year outsourcing contract to develop an integrated human capital management solution to help streamline and automate the majority of its HR functions serving approximately 2,000 county employees. The home of Fort Collins, Colorado State University, and roughly a quarter million Coloradoans, Larimer County is located 70 miles North of Denver.

GENPACT ACQUIRES NISSAN'S HR SHARED SERVICES OPERATIONS...Genpact Limited is assuming the management of Nissan Human Information Service (NHIS), Nissan's shared services center for human resources (HR) operations based in Yokohama, Japan. NHIS has operated as a subsidiary of Nissan Motor Ltd. since 2000 and currently handles HR functions for 54,000+ Nissan employees worldwide. The collaborative relationship also includes a seven-year agreement, under which Genpact will provide payroll, benefits, staffing, training and other key HR services to Nissan. The center, renamed Genpact Japan Service Co., Ltd., will significantly increase Genpact's onshore service delivery capability in Japan.

APAC ACQUIRED FOR $470 MILLION...APAC Customer Services, Inc. is being acquired by an affiliate of One Equity Partners, the private investment arm of JPMorgan Chase & Co., for approximately $470 million through an all-cash transaction. Under the terms of the agreement, One Equity Partners will pay APAC stockholders $8.55 per share in cash, which represents a premium of approximately 57% over APAC's closing share price on July 6, 2011, the last trading day prior to the announcement. The acquisition is anticipated to be funded through committed equity and credit facilities and is not subject to any financing contingencies.

HP ANNOUNCES INTEGRATION OF NEW VMWARE SOFTWARE...HP announced enhanced integration of new VMware software within HP's Converged Infrastructure, which, it says will accelerate the path to an open, hybrid cloud environment for customers. "HP Converged Infrastructure delivers integration with VMware across servers, storage, networking and clients, while also providing turnkey solutions with a common architecture, management and security framework, the company said.

NTT GETS CLOUD LEADERSHIP AWARD...Red Hat, Inc. has awarded NTT Communications, the international and long-distance service arm of NTT, one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world, with its Red Hat Cloud Leadership Award for leading-edge innovation in cloud services as part of the Red Hat Cloud Provider Program and for its free offering of cloud services to aid in Japan's disaster recovery after the Great East Japan Disaster.

New Deals

Capgemini Brasil has signed a 13-year agreement with Brazilian conglomerate ABC Algar group to support their company's operations in Brazil. Capgemini will assume responsibility for Algar's General Accounting, Account Receivables, Account Payables, Tax, Human Resources Administration, Payroll and Procurement. The ABC Algar group currently controls companies, organized into three business units: technology & telecommunications, agribusiness, and services. As part of the agreement, Capgemini will provide business process outsourcing services, with around 150 staff from its Brazil delivery centers. This is a major win for Capgemini in Latin America and perhaps the longest contract term in the history of BPO.

HP announced a five-year extension to its global, multimillion dollar business deal with the BMW Group, the German automobile, motorcycle and engine manufacturing company. As part of the deal, HP Technology Services will deliver higher value support services for the HP technology that provides a major portion of the BMW Group's networking infrastructure.

IBM signed a 10-year agreement with Bharti Airtel to provide comprehensive IT solutions to its employees across 16 African countries. IBM will provide a standard operating environment, 'help desk' and 'desk side' support to enhance employee efficiency and convenience. The new deal builds on a strategic partnership signed in late 2010 to manage the computing technology and services to power Airtel's mobile communications network. IBM will provide comprehensive end user services to Airtel employees across Africa,in French and English.

Swiss Re, one of the world's largest and most diversified reinsurers based in Zurich, Switzerland, has selected multiple CSC software applications as its strategic property and casualty (P&C) insurance processing platform to support its North American Corporate Solutions business.

MACMILLAN TO SELL INDIAN BPO...Global publishing giant Macmillan Group is set to sell its Indian technology solutions and BPO firm MPS, said banking sources said. Macmillan holds 61% stake in MPS, which is listed on the domestic bourses. Bangalore-based MPS employs around 1,000 people and undertakes publishing services work for the UK-based parent as well as third party clients. Ernst & Young has been mandated to find a buyer.

WIPRO BUILD PRIVATE CLOUD FOR UK UTILITY...Wipro Technologies has successfully built a private cloud for OnStream Utility Metering Services Limited, which provides gas and electricity metering solutions in United Kingdom. OnStream is part of National Grid Group, which is one of the largest energy delivery businesses in the world and the largest investor-owned utility in United Kingdom. Wipro which has a matured set of cloud offerings initiated the private cloud project for OnStream in October 2010.

AEGIS NAMES QUALITY, CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CHIEF...Aegis Limited, a leading outsourcing services provider and part of the Essar group, has appointed Peter Bloom to the new role of President of Global Quality and Customer Experience. Prototype solutions will be designed to improve decision making in the command and control process and assist with risk reduction for the warfighter.

IBM announced details of a $3 million (USD) deal with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) to support the bank in a major program of modernization and business expansion. Under the terms of the agreement, IBM will provide hardware, software and IT services to support the bank in its rapid business growth and its shift from manual financial processes to real-time financial services. With the new IT infrastructure, the bank plans to increase its number of accounts by 25 percent per year, launch 200 new ATMs per year and open 500 new branches over the next five years.

TCS Financial Solutions, a strategic business unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), announced that PostFinance Switzerland will deploy TCS BaNCS to overhaul part of its operations. The integrated banking suite comprising payments, core banking, securities processing for funds administration and compliance for fraud detection solutions will be implemented as part of PostFinance's modernization drive to replace the current legacy payment transactions and accounts management systems.

ACCENTURE TO JOIN S&P, REPORTS STRONG QUARTER AND NAMES NEW U.S. EXECUTIVE...Accenture announced that Standard & Poor's will add Accenture's common stock to the S&P 500 Index after the close of trading on Tuesday, July 5. The annoucement comes less than a week after the firm reported strong third-quarter fiscal 2011 results, with record quarterly revenues and EPS. For the third quarter of fiscal 2011, ended May 31, 2011, the giant consultant had net revenues of $6.7 billion, an increase of 21 percent in U.S. dollars and 15 percent in local currency over the same period last year. Diluted earnings per share were $0.93, an increase of $0.20, or 27 percent, over the same period last year. Accenture also named Jorge Benitez managing director - North America and chief executive - United States, effective Sept. 1.

HP OPENS CLOUD CENTER IN CHINA...HP is opening two new centers in China, one focused on cloud computing and the other on research. The company opened a new HP Cloud Executive Briefing Center in the Chinese city of Tianjin near Beijing. The company also plans to open a new center for research in enterprise servers, storage, and networking. The research center in Beijing will open at the end of the year.

Dell Services has signed a new five-year contract with Hyatt Corporation, an affiliate of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, for comprehensive IT services and solutions. Genpact Limited has signed an agreement with employability solutions company JobSkills for an initial period of five years. In a first of its kind agreement, Genpact will offer training modules consisting of specialized content and software for both 'domain' and 'non-domain' services to JobSkills, which has been funded by India's National Skill Development Corporation to increase the employability of approximately 1.74 million young workers in India over the next ten years. Genpact will provide domain curriculum to JobSkills for IT helpdesk, procurement and supply chain (procure to pay and order to cash), banking (commercial loans, credit cards and mortgage) and finance and accounting (accounts payable and accounts receivable).

ACCENTURE, NOKIA FINALIZE SYMBIAN OUTSOURCING DEAL...Nokia and Accenture have finalized an agreement for Nokia to outsource Symbian software development and support activities to Accenture. Plans of the agreement were first announced on April 27, 2011. Under the agreement, Accenture will provide Symbian based software development and support services to Nokia through 2016. Approximately 2,800 Nokia employees located in China, Finland, India, United Kingdom and the United States, are expected to transfer to Accenture at closing, which is expected to take place in the early part of October, 2011.

SIEMENS INTRODUCES CLOUD CONTACT CENTER...Siemens Enterprise Communications introduced OpenScape Cloud Contact Center, an innovative, all-in-one enterprise grade offering that provides customers with advanced contact center capabilities without the cost and complexity of premise-based solutions from multiple providers. With this offering, the company says Siemens Enterprise Communications is the only vendor to deliver a comprehensive and secure cloud unified communications (UC) solution including voice, mobility, messaging, presence, conferencing, collaboration, video and now contact center.

WIPRO NAMES BPO CHIEF...Wipro Technologies announced the appointment of Manish Dugar as senior vice president and global head of Wipro BPO and Jatin Dalal as the new chief financial officer for the IT Business. Manish has been a long-term member of the Wipro Technologies leadership team and brings a deep knowledge and understanding of both the strategic and operational facets of the business and will drive Wipro's worldwide position in the BPO space, said a press release.

NATIONAL ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD SYSTEM LAUNCHED IN SINGAPORE...Accenture and MOH Holdings Singapore have launched one of the world's first national electronic health record (NEHR) systems. Aligned to Singapore's 'one patient, one record' vision, the NEHR enables a single patient health record for clinicians to access across the healthcare continuum. As patients visit providers -- including primary care clinics, acute and community hospitals -- healthcare professionals will be able to access a single patient record for medical information. The NEHR captures medical data, including patient demographics, diagnosis, medications, tests, procedures and discharge summaries, for exchange among clinicians.

HP Enterprise Services has been awarded a contract by the Judiciary of Guam to modernize its court case management system and improve access to the courts via the internet. Under the terms of the contract, HP will act as a systems integrator for the judiciary's court case management solution. HP will help provide 24/7 public access to court information and improve system efficiency, as well as streamline reporting, administration and performance management. The solution also will help the government address the increased demand on judicial services due to Guam's expected 25 percent population growth over the next four years.

SCHOTT AG, a multinational company that develops and produces specialty glass and other materials, has renewed its outsourcing services agreement with HP for an additional five years. With the new agreement, HP will continue delivering Utility Services to enable SCHOTT to maintain its global growth in a cost efficient way. HP has provided technology services for SCHOTT since 2004.

EXECUTIVE CHANGES AT HP...Hewlett-Packard announced a series of organizational changes this week to "more closely align its corporate structure with the strategy it announced in March." Randy Mott, chief information officer and Pete Bocian, executive vice president and chief administrative officer are leaving the firm and Ann Livermore, executive vice president of HP's enterprise business, is leaving the company's day to day operations and moving to a role on its board of directors. To effect a smooth transition, Livermore will continue to serve as interim lead for HP Enterprise Services and sponsor certain key accounts until a new services leader is named.

TCS ON HIRING SPREE...Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. hired 70,000 workers last fiscal year and plans to add 60,000 more this year--including more than 1,200 Americans. The American initiative is an effort to diversify its talent pool as well as counter anti-outsourcing sentiment in the U.S. TCS plans to hire entry level workers from colleges in the U.S., as well as experienced professionals in sales and consulting and designing services for its software development centers in Cincinnati and Phoenix, according to the Wall Street Journal. Tata Consultancy, India's largest outsourcing company by sales, has nearly 1,900 local employees in the U.S. currently.

CAPGEMINI TO BUY FRENCH HOSTING FIRM PROSODIE...Capgemini entered into exclusive negotiations to buy French IT services provider Prosodie for an enterprise value of about EUR382mn (US$550mn). The deal, which could be finalized by late July 2011, would round out Capgemini's service portfolio in the rapidly growing client relationship management (CRM) solutions market and enhance the company's European business-to-business (B2B) coverage. BMI believes the combination would be highly complementary to the companies' core IT services and outsourcing activities, particularly in the online financial services field.

NESS TECHNOLOGIES ACQUIRED BY VC GROUP...Ness Technologies, Inc., a global provider of information technology solutions and services, has entered into a definitive merger agreement under which an affiliate of Citi Venture Capital International (CVCI), a global private equity investment fund, will acquire the company in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $307 million. Under the terms of the agreement, Ness stockholders will receive $7.75 per share in cash for each share of common stock they hold, representing a premium of 17.6% over the closing price of the company's shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market on June 9, 2011, the last trading day prior to today's announcement, or 22.2% over the average closing price of the company's shares over the 30 trading days prior to June 10, 2011.

HP Enterprise Services announced Avista Corporation, a Washington-based public utility, has signed a seven-year technology and applications outsourcing renewal agreement to help with its ongoing transition into a digital utility. As an HP client for almost two decades, Avista, which serves three western states, looks to HP to manage most of its major enterprise systems as well as its data center and workplace environments. HP will continue to provide Applications Management Services for Avista's enterprise applications portfolio, including its customer information and work management systems. Under the agreement, HP also will provide Applications Modernization Services that will help replace some of Avista's custom applications, improving efficiency and creating a path for Avista to continue operating among the lowest cost utilities in the United States.

Accenture will help CF Industries Holdings, a global leader in fertilizer manufacturing and distribution, to implement a management and information platform to increase operational excellence and information flow across CF Industries' businesses. CF Industries expects that the new IT system will support growth and drive competitiveness through coordinated business processes such as supply chain management, customer interaction, finance and inventory, among others. The company also has an objective of enabling its team to make more timely business decisions.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) awarded a contract to Unisys to compete for task orders under the Information Technology Support Services-4 (ITSS-4) contract for information technology support services such as applications modernization, integration, and operations and maintenance. Unisys is one of 20 companies awarded an ITSS-4 indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with a seven-month base period and six one-year options, exercisable at the discretion of the government. This IDIQ contract has a total potential value capped at $1.1 billion over seven years. The contract is open for use by any organization within the DOJ, as well as other government agencies.

IBM has signed a five-year services agreement with Bank Austria, a member of UniCredit. The agreement signifies a major step to strengthen Bank Austria's infrastructure and support its growing business. IBM has developed a cohesive strategy encompassing information technology (IT) support and application services to reduce complexity across Bank Austria's operations and enable the Bank to strengthen its market position and focus on customer needs. UniCredit Group intends to apply the IT management model in other markets according to market-specific needs. The international banking group expects this strategic shift to create synergies in more markets and savings throughout Europe.

Capita has expanded an existing contract to deliver operational services for Zurich's life business by 11 years (from 2015 to 2026). In addition, the outsourcing giant will be supporting the development of Zurich Global Life's European and international administration hubs, for a 15 year period. Under the terms of the agreement around 400 Zurich employees will transfer to the firm. The new work will begin on July 1 and together with the contract extension, should generate approximately GBP570 million in revenues for Capita.

The combination of CSC and VIXIA will offer the Latin American market a global portfolio of financial services-specific applications and services, along with deep, local market and service delivery expertise. The acquisition advances CSC's position to support the expansion objectives of its multinational clients, as well as its position to pursue and win new business in this emerging financial services market. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

HP SIGNS 10-YEAR, $380 MILLION DEAL WITH HEALTHWAYS...HP Enterprise Services and Healthways, Inc. have signed a 10-year, $380 million applications and technology services outsourcing agreement to support growth and expand value to Healthways' customers. HP will provide Applications Development and Applications Management services to further accelerate the transformational development of the well-being improvement company's applications and technology infrastructure. As a result, Healthways' mission-critical application, EMBRACE, will be able to support an increasing volume of customers and increasing market demand for multiparty integration.

CONVERGYS TO SELL MOBILE ASSETS...Convergys Corporation will sell its holdings in the "cellular partnerships" located in the Cincinnati metropolitan area to AT&T for approximately $320 million in cash. As a result of its spin-off from Cincinnati Bell Inc. in 1998, Convergys received a 34% limited partnership interest in Cincinnati SMSA and a 45% limited partnership interest in Cincinnati SMSA Tower Holdings. Together, these two properties are referred to as the "cellular partnerships." Convergys expects the sale to generate net after-tax proceeds of approximately $250 million.

EXL CLOSES OUTSOURCE PARTNERS ACQUISITION...ExlService Holdings, Inc. has closed its previously announced acquisition of Outsource Partners International, a leading global provider of finance & accounting outsourcing services with approximately 3,700 employees in the United States, Asia and Europe serving roughly 80 clients. As a result of the acquisition, EXL establishes itself as one of the leading third-party service providers in F&A outsourcing.

COGNIZANT BOARD RAISES STOCK REPURCHASE FUNDS...Cognizant announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the expansion of its existing share repurchase program by $150 million, bringing the total authorization under the current repurchase program to $300 million. In addition, Cognizant's Board has extended the expiration date for the repurchase program to June 30, 2012.

IBM EXPANDING IN AFRICA...IBM announced the opening of a new branch office in Dar es Salaam, as part of the company's continued geographic expansion initiative to increase its presence in key growth markets and support its global growth strategy. The announcement follows the recent news of the opening of IBM's office in Dakar, Senegal and gives IBM a direct presence in over 20 African countries including South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria.

IBM has entered into 10 year strategic outsourcing agreement with India Infoline (IIFL), that will help IIFL deliver a higher level of customer satisfaction, strengthen its IT security framework and control IT operations, IBM says. Under this agreement, IBM will take over the complete IT operations of IIFL which will entail managing more than 700 IIFL branches spread across India. The complete IT infrastructure at IIFL consists of more than 450 servers spread across five data centers and nine local server rooms with over 15,000 end user assets distributed across its branches.

Wipro Technologies has won an engagement with Chaucer Syndicates, a specialist insurer at Lloyd's, the world's leading insurance and reinsurance market, to deliver a data warehouse and associated Extract, transform and load (ETL) solution to ensure compliance to meet the upcoming Lloyd's 10 day reporting and management reporting requirements within Chaucer's Solvency Smart Programme for Solvency II compliance.

iGATE Patni announced that it has secured a five-year contract for the delivery of SAP-based operational, maintenance and support services to Serco's existing and prospective customers. The exclusive contract commenced in December 2010 and will be in place until 2015. Serco provides SAP services to around 20 local authorities and several commercial organisations

IBM CIO STUDY: CLOUD COMPUTING POISED TO SURGE...A new IBM study of more than 3,000 global CIOs shows that 60 percent of organizations are ready to embrace cloud computing over the next five years as a means of growing their businesses and achieving competitive advantage. The figure nearly doubles the number of CIOs who said they would utilize cloud in IBM's 2009 CIO study, and is one of dozens of new insights and trends learned from CIOs worldwide in businesses of all sizes. In IBM's 2009 CIO study, only a third of CIOs said they planned to pursue cloud. This year's study shows a dramatic increase in the focus on cloud, particularly in media and entertainment, which rose to 73 percent, automotive (70 percent) and telecommunications (69 percent). From a country standpoint, seven out of 10 CIOs in the U.S., Japan and South Korea, and 68 percent in China, now identify cloud as a top priority. This is dramatically up from 2009, when CIO interest in cloud hovered at about a third in each of these countries.

HP ACQUIRES MANAGED PRINT FIRM...HP has signed a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Printelligent, a closely held provider of managed print services (MPS). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The infrastructure, software and trained workforce of Printelligent, combined with HP's channel relationships, experience and broad base of services and solutions will strengthen HP's leadership in MPS. This acquisition, combined with HP's current assets, also will help HP's channel partners extend their customer relationships while recognizing new revenue streams.

SOFTWARE AG ACQUIRES TERRACOTTA...Software AG will acquire Terracotta Inc., a developer of in-memory computing technology, in a deal that will allow Software AG to expand its cloud-computing offerings and boost the performance of its business process management applications. Software AG said that it expects to complete the acquisition in June, and did not disclose how much it is paying for privately held Terracotta. Terracotta's in-memory processing technology can store up to a terabyte of data in-memory and is the de facto caching standard for enterprise Java, according to Software AG. It provides data access up to 1,000 times faster than access to database systems.

WIPRO UNIT FORMS SYSTEM INTEGRATION PARTNERSHIP WITH WYDE...Wipro Technologies will offer system integration services to Wyde Corporation's insurance clients and prospects worldwide under a strategic partnership. Wyde is a leading international provider of core insurance software solutions. The partnership will allow Wyde's clients to leverage Wipro's global resources. Wipro Technologies will be the lead Systems Integrator for implementing Wyde's 'Wynsure' software, for the insurance sector. Wipro will also set up a Wynsure Center of Excellence in India that will be leveraged for sales initiatives, co-development programs, training purposes and customer demonstrations.

WNS OPENS FOURTH OFFICE IN EUROPE...WNS (Holdings) Limited announced the opening of its fourth office in Europe at Hyde Park Hayes, Middlesex, to support its rapid expansion in the region. This new facility will house WNS's consulting division, revenue recovery group, client partners and general administration for Europe. WNS's new Europe office will be an integration of its consulting arm in the UK and intends to serve its clients across verticals, including Travel & Leisure, Banking & Financial services, Insurance, Utilities, Telecommunications, CPG, Retail, Manufacturing and Healthcare.

Capgemini has been awarded a 5-year contract by the Hilti Corporation, one of the world's leading technology suppliers for the construction industry. Capgemini Procurement Services, a new division of Capgemini's Business Process Outsourcing unit, now provides the complete suite of electronic solutions for Hilti's Procurement Indirect Materials, leveraging its IBX on-demand technology platform. The project with Hilti is now live with the first phase in Germany. The target is to increase efficiency, contract compliance and spend under management while achieving cost savings.

McCamish Systems LLC, an Infosys BPO company, specializing in insurance and retirement business process solutions, announced the signing of a multi-year agreement with FaithLife Financial, a not-for-profit financial services organization that provides life insurance, health insurance, income protection and investment products in Canada. GENPACT NAMES 'TIGER' TYAGARAJAN NEXT CEO...Genpact Limited announced that effective June 17, 2011, NV "Tiger" Tyagarajan will become the President and Chief Executive Officer of the company and will be appointed to the Board of Directors. Tyagarajan, the current Chief Operating Officer of Genpact, succeeds Pramod Bhasin who has decided to step down as CEO and member of the Board and become Non-Executive Vice Chairman of the company. Tyagarajan was CEO of Genpact from 1999 to 2002 and led the business through a critical growth phase as a subsidiary of GE. When Genpact became an independent company, Tyagarajan rejoined Genpact from GE Capital U.S. as EVP, Sales and Business Development from 2005 to 2009. Thereafter, he took on the role of Genpact's COO. He is a mechanical engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

DELL REPORTS SOLID FIRST QUARTER...Dell's fiscal first quarter earnings were better-than-expected as the company's enterprise sales offset weak consumer PC demand. The company reported net income of $945 billion, or $0.49 per share, on $15.0 billion in sales compared to net income of $341 million or $0.17 per share, on $14.9 billion in sales during the same period a year ago. HP ANNOUNCES SECOND QUARTER RESULTS, REVISES YEARLY OUTLOOK...HP announced financial results for its second fiscal quarter ended April 30, 2011. Net revenue of $31.6 billion was up 3% from the prior-year period as reported and up 1% when adjusted for the effects of currency. GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) was $1.05, up 15% from $0.91 in the prior-year period. Non-GAAP diluted EPS was $1.24, up 14% from $1.09 in the prior-year period. HP revised its full year GAAP diluted earnings per share outlook down to at least $4.27 and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share outlook down to at least $5.00.

COGNIZANT NOW IN FORTUNE 500...Cognizant has joined the Fortune 500, Fortune Magazine's ranking of America's largest companies. NOKIA OUTSOURCES SYMBIAN SOFTWARE ACTIVITIES TO ACCENTURE...Nokia announced that it would outsource its Symbian software activities and transition about 3,000 employees to Accenture. At the same time, Accenture would provide mobility software services to Nokia for future smartphones. The companies expect completion of the final agreement during summer 2011, and expect the transition of employees by the end of the year 2011. Transitioning employees, located in China, Finland, India, United Kingdom and the United States, will initially work on Symbian software activities for Nokia. Over time, Accenture and Nokia will seek opportunities to retrain and redeploy transitioned employees. This collaboration also includes plans for Accenture to provide mobility software, business and operational services around the Windows Phone platform to Nokia and other ecosystem participants.

WIPRO EARNINGS UP IN Q4...Wipro Ltd., India's third largest software exporter, reported a 14% rise in January to March net profit to 13.75 billion rupees ($309 million, while revenue grew a little more than 18% to 83.02 billion rupees ($1.86 billion). The company forecast weak revenue growth at its technology business, for the next quarter.

TCS Q4 PROFIT UP...Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported a 24 percent rise in quarterly profit from a year earlier, on robust demand for outsourcing. Consolidated net profit rose to 24.02 billion rupees ($539 million) for the final quarter of the financial year ended March 2011, from 19.31 billion rupees in the same period a year ago, according to US accounting norms. Revenues for the quarter rose 31 percent to 101.57 billion rupees, the company said in a statement.

IBM DECLARES DIVIDEND, AUTHORIZES $8 BILLION STOCK REPURCHASE...IBM declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.75 per common share, payable June 10, 2011 to stockholders of record May 10, 2011 and also authorized $8 billion in additional funds for use in the company’s stock repurchase program. The dividend declaration represents an increase of $0.10, or 15 percent higher than the prior quarterly dividend of $0.65 per common share. IBM has increased its quarterly dividend 400 percent since 2003. The $8 billion repurchase authorization is in addition to approximately $4.7 billion remaining at the end of March from a prior authorization. With this new authorization, IBM will have approximately $12.7 billion for its stock repurchase program.

TSG ACQUIRES CONCENTRIX...Technology Services Group Ltd (TSG) acquired IT software and services company Concentrix Limited. The acquisition is the twenty-fourth for TSG since its inception in October 2003, and represents continued progress in building a UK-wide service network, providing complete IT services to small to medium-size businesses (SMBs). Concentrix currently employs 61 staff and is a business software, CRM and IT solutions provider based in Loughborough.

D+S communication center management GmbH (D+S CCM), a leading provider of solutions for customer contact management, has decided to enter into an IT-outsourcing partnership with Atos Origin. Under the terms of the 10-year agreement, 50 employees will be transferred from D+S solutions GmbH to the international IT service provider Atos Origin. The services covered by the outsourcing agreement include data centre and infrastructure operations and network and desktop services. Atos Origin will also be responsible for application management. With the outsourcing of its entire IT operations, D+S is breaking new ground in the call centre industry.

IBM POSTS STRONG FIRST QUARTER...IBM announced first-quarter 2011 diluted earnings of $2.31 per share, compared with diluted earnings of $1.97 per share in the first quarter of 2010, an increase of 17 percent. Operating (non-GAAP) diluted earnings were $2.41 per share, compared with operating diluted earnings of $2.00 per share in the first quarter of 2010, an increase of 21 percent. First-quarter net income was $2.9 billion compared with $2.6 billion in the first quarter of 2010, an increase of 10 percent. Operating (non-GAAP) net income was $3.0 billion compared with $2.6 billion in the first quarter of 2010, an increase of 13 percent. Total revenues for the first quarter of 2011 of $24.6 billion increased 8 percent (5 percent, adjusting for currency) from the first quarter of 2010.

HCL POSTS HIGHER-THAN-EXPECTED EARNING FOR Q3...HCL Technologies, India's fourth largest software services firm, posted a better-than-expected rise in Jan-March profit, clearing the concerns that clouded the outsourcing sector after Infosys' weak quarterly performance. HCL, which follows a July-June fiscal, reported a 33 percent rise in profit to 4.68 billion rupees in a seasonally weak quarter, higher than the 4.3 billion rupees estimated by a Reuters poll of brokerages.

WIPRO RANKED NO. 2 GLOBALLY BY U.S. DIVERSITY COUNCILS...Wipro Technologies has been ranked 2nd in the list of Top 25 U.S. diversity councils, by The Association of Diversity Councils, a practice group of diversity and inclusion consulting and training firm PRISM International, Inc. The rankings were announced recently and the 1st rank in this list went to the US Navy. CSC SIGNS $348 MILLION RENEWAL WITH NORDIC INSURANCE FIRM...CSC has signed a seven-year information technology (IT) outsourcing contract renewal with Tryg, the second-largest insurance company in the Nordic region. The new agreement expands the scope of the existing contract to include new services and extends to include Tryg's most recent acquisitions in Finland and Sweden with Moderna. ACS WINS $200 MILLION MGM RESORTS DEAL...Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), A Xerox Company announced a $200 million, five-year agreement with MGM Resorts International to provide managed information technology (IT) services. In addition, ACS will bring high-tech expertise to Las Vegas when it establishes a locally -based Center of Excellence. This center will be dedicated to applying the latest technological innovation to support MGM Resorts International by using best practices that have been successful in other industries. ACS will assume responsibility and performance of all service desk and desk side support to MGM Resorts International's employees; manage and continually update company's IT equipment; manage the IT purchasing needs as well as the storage of vital data.

GENPACT ACQUIRES AKRITIV TECHNOLOGIES...Genpact Limited has acquired Akritiv Technologies, a leading provider of cloud-based order-to-cash (OTC) technology solutions based in Silicon Valley, Calif. Under the terms of the deal, Genpact will take ownership of Akritiv Technologies' proprietary technology platform and software as a service (SaaS)-delivered solutions for OTC functions such as credit and accounts receivable management. Financial terms were not disclosed. As a result of this acquisition, the company says, Genpact will provide an unprecedented end-to-end offering to clients for receiving and processing customer sales.

VANCEINFO ACQUIRES CHINA-BASED BPO...VanceInfo Technologies Inc., an IT service provider and one of the leading offshore software development companies in China, has acquired 100% equity interest in the main operating subsidiaries of LW International Holdings Limited (Lifewood), a China-based company providing business process outsourcing services. Under the terms of the acquisition agreement, VanceInfo will pay an initial consideration of $5.6 million in cash and stock, with contingent consideration to be paid based on Lifewood's financial performance over the next three years.

Capgemini Financial Services, a global business unit of the Capgemini Group, has been selected in the competitive bidding to supply IT outsourcing services to the UK Financial Services Authority in a framework agreement covering applications development and applications maintenance for the four-year period 2011-2014. Under the agreement Capgemini will work with the FSA on strategic projects involving the IT applications required to support the FSA's regulatory responsibilities.

The Flemish Government is using HP Application Transformation solutions to transform its technology environment and enable it to provide Instant-On government services to more than 6 million Belgian citizens. With more than 70 different agencies serving citizens entitled to government benefits, the Flemish Government previously handled benefits processing and distribution using a manual, paper-based system. Working with HP, the Flemish Government has developed a state-of-the-art, interagency data exchange platform designed for once-only data collection, driving up efficiency and citizen satisfaction.

ACS has completed the acquisition of Unamic/HCN, the largest privately-owned customer care provider in the Benelux. ACS announced on February 21 that it would acquire Unamic/HCN to expand its global customer care capabilities by adding regional market expertise in Western Europe, Turkey and Suriname.

Unisys NZ has won a three-year renewal of its longstanding IT services contract with the financial services cooperative PSIS. The services delivered under the contract include ClearPath and ES7000 servers and other data centre hardware support, disaster recovery hosting and services, and security monitoring of PSIS' internet banking channel.

GENPACT BUYS HEADSTRONG FOR $550 MILLION...Genpact Ltd has agreed to buy Headstrong Corp, a provider of consulting and IT services, for $550 million in cash to strengthen its capital markets business. Headstrong, which was founded in 1981 and has centers in India and Manila with a global headcount of 3,700, generated 2010 revenue of about $217 million, Genpact said in a statement. Headstrong focuses on financial services and helps clients manage customer relationships and business processes like help desks. The deal would be funded through existing cash and financing. Genpact sees the deal, expected to close by May 31, adding to 2011 earnings.

DELL SERVICES NAMES FORMER WIPRO EXEC TO KEY POST...Suresh Vaswani has been named Executive Vice President to lead Dell Services' Applications and Business Process Outsourcing organization. He will report to Steve Schuckenbrock, President of Dell Services. Vaswani will also assume responsibility as Chairman, Dell India. The Dell Services Applications and Business Process Outsourcing organization includes more than 15,000 team members globally. Vaswani's focus will be to build next generation service offerings and grow Dell's process capabilities on a global basis across multiple industry verticals, service offerings and market segments. Suresh has had a very successful track record during his 25 years at Wipro. In his last position at Wipro, Vaswani was the co-CEO of Wipro's IT business and an Executive Director on the board of Wipro Ltd.

WIPRO BUYS SIAC'S OIL AND GAS IT BUSINESS...Wipro Technologies has signed an agreement to acquire the Global Oil and Gas Information Technology practice of the Commercial Business Services business unit of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) for an all cash consideration of approximately $US150 million, subject to adjustments. SAIC'S global oil and gas IT practice provides consulting, system integration and outsourcing services to global oil majors. It has significant domain capabilities in digital oil field, petrotechnical data management and petroleum application services for upstream segment. As a result of the transaction, approximately 1,450 employees are expected to transition to Wipro across North America, Europe, India and Middle East.

CSC ACQUIRES HEALTHCARE IT FIRM...CSC has signed an agreement to acquire all of the outstanding equity of iSOFT Group Limited, one of the world's largest providers of advanced healthcare IT solutions, by way of a court-approved scheme of arrangement. The company says the acquisition will complement and strengthen CSC’s market-leading software products and healthcare integration and services portfolio, while enhancing its healthcare research and development capabilities. It will also accelerate CSC's strategic growth plan in the Life Sciences market and reinforce the company as a very strong player in healthcare information technology.

TCS will provide end-to-end application development and maintenance services to support 5,800 Air Liquide US LLC users 24/7, improving operational effectiveness and efficiency. Under the original contract, signed in 2003, RSA outsourced a range of front- and back-office operations to Accenture, including portions of its sales and service, claims, finance and commercial administration functions that support RSA's direct, affinity and broker customers. Accenture will continue to provide these services through to the end of 2016 while enabling RSA to have flexibility to meet its customer needs and explore other opportunities to support the on-line proposition. HP SIGNS $100 MILLION DEAL WITH COCA-COLA FEMSA...Hewlett-Packard Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V., announced Coca-Cola FEMSA, S.A.B. de C.V., the largest public bottler of Coca Cola products in the world in terms of sales volume, has signed a five-year technology outsourcing services contract to build and manage an HP Converged Infrastructure. The new services and infrastructure support the company's Latin American growth while providing better service and lower costs. The agreement adds more than $100 million to HP's existing Coca-Cola FEMSA relationship, which began in 2000.

ACCENTURE POSTS STRONG SECOND QUARTER...Accenture reported strong financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2011, ended Feb. 28, 2011, with net revenues of $6.05 billion, an increase of 17 percent in U.S. dollars and 18 percent in local currency over the same period last year and exceeding the company's guided range of $5.6 billion to $5.8 billion. Diluted earnings per share were $0.75, an increase of $0.15, or 25 percent, over the same period last year.

Accenture has entered into a multi-year contract in which it will provide the Netherlands-based global logistics company CEVA with finance and accounting (F&A) business process outsourcing (BPO), and management consulting services. The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. The F&A BPO services Accenture will provide include accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end close, balance sheet reconciliations and reporting. Accenture will ultimately provide these F&A services to CEVA through the Accenture Global Delivery Network using delivery centers in India, Romania and Argentina.

HP Enterprise Services announced a five-year, $176 million services agreement with the Nevada Division of Health Care Financing and Policy to strengthen Medicaid operations and help position the state for healthcare reform. The new agreement calls for HP to become Nevada's Medicaid fiscal agent and to upgrade and manage the state's Medicaid Management Information System. The agency is responsible for Medicaid benefits for almost 300,000 Nevada residents and processes about 12 million Medicaid claims per year.

API Outsourcing, Inc., a provider of Finance and Accounting Outsourcing services (FAO), has been selected by Avendra, North America's leading supply chain and procurement service provider for the hospitality segment, for outsourcing and automating their invoice processing requirements. Avendra maintains approximately 900 supplier contracts and its clients include many of the largest hospitality management companies with nearly 5,000 customer locations.

Leading airport company BAA is outsourcing the delivery of its IT services to a consortium led by Capgemini UK plc in a five-year contract valued at approximately Pounds100 million (approx Euro120 million). BAA says that the move will be key to improving the airport experience for all its stakeholders at Heathrow and the company's other five UK airports. The consortium, assembled and led by Capgemini as prime contractor, includes SITA, Atkins, Computacenter and Amor Group. Capgemini will be responsible for the delivery of BAA’s core IT services on a day-to-day basis, including applications, infrastructure and projects, for some 10,000 users. The service will cover BAA's six UK airports and will start in May after a two-month transition.

Procurement specialists Efficio have signed a five-year contract to manage Pounds500 million a year spend for Thames Water, the largest water company in the UK. The deal, to take effect on 6 April, will mean Efficio providing a full procurement managed service taking responsibility for sourcing and contract management of all Reading-based Thames Water's direct and indirect spend. Award of the contract followed a nine-month competitive tendering process and marks a major move by Efficio into large-scale managed services.

Tata Consultancy Services and Holland's Royal Haskoning have signed a multi-year, multi-million IT infrastructure deal, which will form the base for Royal Haskoning's future operating model. The scope of the project covers end-to-end IT infrastructure services, which will be provided from TCS' global delivery centers in the Netherlands, Hungary and India. The services include a multilingual service desk, datacenter hosting and management, end-user computing services, application support services and transformation solutions. WNS has been appointed as a preferred vendor with Star Alliance to perform audit and revenue protection services for its member airlines. The patent-pending Unisys Stealth Solution uses data encryption and bit-splitting technology to secure data. Using the Stealth Solution, organisations can define communities of interest--specific groups of users--and segregate access to data on a shared network or storage system so that one community of interest cannot access another's data.

Capgemini UK plc has won the bidding to supply leading UK energy company EDF Energy with a spectrum of IT support services under a new outsourcing agreement. The contract is for an initial three years with options for a further two years. The value of this partnership is around £100 million (approximately Euro120 million) over the period to end- 2015. Under the new contract Capgemini will provide service desk, procurement and managed desktop services, including support for email, instant messaging and file sharing, to 15,000 EDF Energy IT users, with some services being provided by specialist subcontractors working with Capgemini as prime contractor.

The City of London Corporation awarded Accenture a five-year contract to help it reduce its procurement costs by creating a new, world-class procurement shared service center. Under this new, value-based arrangement, Accenture will have a proportion of its fees directly tied to the savings achieved to demonstrate its commitment and confidence in its ability to deliver savings. Accenture will initially focus on delivering strategic sourcing -- savings from across the City's diverse base of suppliers -- and by transforming the way that the City manages its procurement operations.

Unisys Corporation announced that its French subsidiary has signed a multi-year contract to provide end-user IT support services for 60,000 employees of Air France and its subsidiaries at multiple locations throughout France. Under the terms of the contract, Unisys will handle IT equipment procurement and software distribution for those employees. Unisys will also provide a range of hardware installation, maintenance and support services for 23,000 devices distributed across 10 airports and other locations in France.

Dell Services has signed a six-year IT outsourcing contract with leading pan European travel company TUI Travel PLC. Deploying managed infrastructure services, Dell Services will utilize its IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)-based best practices and systems as well as cloud-based asset management capabilities to help TUI Travel boost cost savings and productivity. Under the agreement, Dell Services will help TUI Travel standardize its tool set and infrastructure, specifically for IT services that support its employees, with Service Desk offerings such as Desktop, Laptop, and Printer support, and Managed Client services including Managed Active Directory and Exchange.

Consip, a public company owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) with responsibility for public procurement, has awarded Accenture a four-year, $6 million (USD) contract to develop, build and maintain an eProcurement system that will help transform the way the Italian government manages its procurement operations by increasing efficiencies and ensuring value for money across suppliers.

KPMG TO ACQUIRE EQUATERRA...KPMG will acquire the business of advisory firm EquaTerra. The acquisition creates one of the broadest global sourcing and shared services advisory offerings across the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. In a press release, KPMG said that combining KPMG's practice and EquaTerra, two of the world's top-ranked global sourcing organizations,"...is consistent with the KPMG network's growth strategy, focusing on organic and inorganic opportunities in select high-demand market sectors." Terms were not disclosed. EquaTerra is ranked No. 2 on the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals' recent 2010 list of the World's Best Outsourcing Advisers. HP EARNINGS UP FOR FIRST QUARTER...HP announced financial results for its first fiscal quarter ended January 31, 2011. Net revenue of $32.3 billion was up 4% from the prior-year period both as reported and in constant currency. GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) was $1.17, up 26% from $0.93 in the prior-year period. Non-GAAP diluted EPS was $1.36, up 27% from $1.07 in the prior-year period. Non-GAAP financial information excludes after-tax costs of approximately $0.19 per share and $0.14 per share in the first quarter of fiscal 2011 and 2010, respectively, related primarily to the amortization of purchased intangibles, restructuring charges and acquisition-related charges.

UNISYS OFFERS MANDATORY CONVERTIBLE PREFERRED STOCK...Unisys Corporation has commenced a public offering of 2,250,000 shares of mandatory convertible preferred stock. The company also expects to grant the underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional 337,500 shares of mandatory convertible preferred stock, which may be exercised to the extent the underwriters sell more than 2,250,000 shares of mandatory convertible preferred stock. The stock has an offering price of $100 per share and will be mandatorily convertible into shares of Unisys common stock on March 1, 2014. The dividend rate and the conversion terms will be determined by negotiations between Unisys and the underwriters.

The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) and Dell Services announced an agreement in which Dell Services will provide the 464-bed, Brooklyn, N.Y.-based hospital with revenue cycle services. As part of the seven-year agreement, Dell Services will provide technology, staffing and educational support in several departments, including admitting, ambulatory registration, insurance verification, health information management, patient accounting, case management, clinical documentation, and social work services. The agreement marks the first time Dell will provide complete case management services to a hospital. Case management refers to the total administrative management of a patient’s treatment, typically from admission to discharge and follow-up.

Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), A Xerox Company announced a definitive agreement to acquire Unamic/HCN, the largest privately owned customer care provider in the Benelux. Unamic/HCN provides customer care services for a diverse set of clients through capabilities ranging from call center agents handling inbound calls seeking technical assistance and answering customer inquiries to activating customer accounts and, most recently, social media monitoring. The company's focus on the Dutch-speaking market in the Benelux and an emerging Turkish market will expand ACS' customer care capabilities in The Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey and Suriname. The $281 million, seven-year contract, which contains a one-year renewal option, adds new information technology services to help prepare the state for healthcare reform and make services more accessible to SoonerCare (Oklahoma Medicaid) members. As Oklahoma's fiscal agent since 2002, HP will continue providing systems support and business process outsourcing services for its Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS.

ACCENTURE EXPANDS RELATIONSHIP WITH NETAPP...Accenture and NetApp are expanding their existing relationship with two technology agreements, one for the joint development, marketing, and delivery of a customized set of solutions focused on data center optimization and virtualization, cloud computing, and application optimization; and the second for NetApp's Professional Services organization to expand its implementation capabilities by leveraging a dedicated Accenture team providing consulting and integration services. The U.S. Army awarded CSC a task order to support the Program Executive Office Command Control Communications - Tactical (PEO C3T) and subordinate program managers and offices. The task order, which was awarded during CSC's fiscal 2011 second quarter, has a one-year base period and a 10-month option, bringing the estimated total 22-month value to $67 million. Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will support a diverse range of engineering, architecture, integration and readiness services that span the total life-cycle of battle command systems.

CSC has signed a new IT outsourcing agreement with SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica company, and leader in the defense electronics markets and CSC customer since 2000. The total estimated value of the agreement is approximately $200M. COGNIZANT REVENUES,PROFITS UP SHARPLY...Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation announced its fourth quarter and full year 2010 financial results. Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2010 rose to $1.31 billion, up 45.2% from $902.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2009. GAAP net income was $206.2 million, or $0.66 per diluted share, compared to $144.0 million, or $0.47 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2009. Diluted earnings per share on a non-GAAP basis was $0.70. For the full year, revenue increased to $4.59 billion, up 40.1% from $3.28 billion for 2009. GAAP net income was $733.5 million, or $2.37 per diluted share, compared to $535.0 million, or $1.78 per diluted share, for 2009. Diluted earnings per share on a non-GAAP basis was $2.51.

GENPACT EARNINGS, REVENUES UP...Genpact reported that its fourth quarter earnings rose 33% as revenues also grew. For the fourth quarter ended December 31, net income attributable to Genpact shareholders was US$46 million, or 20 cents per diluted share, up from $34.6 million, or 16 cents per diluted share, in the year-ago period. Revenues increased 15% year-over-year to $341.5 million, beating the $339.7 million expected by analysts. For the full year, net income was $142.2 million, or 63 cents per diluted share, compared to $127.3 million, or 58 cents per diluted share in 2009. Revenues were roughly $1.26 billion, up 12.4% from 2009.

As a result of the extended agreement, Zalaris' will continue to deliver pan-Nordic HR Outsourcing processes to Nordea covering employee data management, payroll, time and attendance, travel expenses, pension administration and employee help desk. The services are delivered based on Zalaris' smartHR integrated HR template with web based processes powered by the SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) Solution. In addition, functionality for SAP Learning Solution and SAP Enterprise Compensation Management (ECM) will be provided as Software as a Service (SaaS) model.

UK-insurance giant Aviva has signed a nine year messaging contract with Hewlett-Packard based on Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite designed to improve productivity and enhance collaboration across all of Aviva's global regions. This will include HP assuming responsibility for existing Microsoft Online Share Point and Office Communicator solutions. This new agreement is an enhancement to the global outsourcing agreement that was signed in February 2009, and is seen as a key driver of Aviva's strategy to implement a unified communications capability across its organization.

New Business

IBM has been selected by the City of New York to build a more efficient, smarter technology platform for CITIServ, the City's IT infrastructure modernization program. The goal of the project is to streamline delivery of City services by consolidating and updating outdated and incompatible IT, thereby reducing energy consumption, strengthening security, and providing City workers with faster access to the latest technologies. Ultimately, more than 50 agency data centers will be consolidated and migrated to a modern cloud computing environment that will enable faster deployment of technology solutions to New Yorkers and the agencies that serve them. The City expects the proposed IT infrastructure consolidation to deliver savings of up to $100 million over five years, while also improving the technology capabilities for City workers.

The U.S. Department of Labor awarded CSC a contract to implement and operate the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs' Central Bill Process (CBP) service. The contract, which was awarded during CSC's fiscal 2011 second quarter, has a seven-year period of performance and an estimated total value of $143 million. CSC will provide services to process medical bills, facilitate prior authorization of services, respond to inquiries related to medical benefits through a call center and service oriented architecture-based systems, and implement a fraud and abuse detection program.

Unisys Corporation announced that its UK subsidiary has won a contract for a data centre transformation project from the University of Salford. The 13-month contract, signed in the third quarter of 2010, has a value of approximately $US9.2 million. Unisys will design and implement an advanced IT infrastructure by integrating new server, storage and networking platforms and delivering an upgrade to Microsoft Exchange 2010. The platform will enable the university to deliver cloud-based shared services in the future.

WIPRO NAMES NEW CEO OF IT BUSINESS...Wipro Limited announced the appointment of T K Kurien as the Chief Executive Officer of the Information Technology business and Executive Director of the company.

DELL NAMES NEW HEAD OF DELL SERVICES...Steve Schuckenbrock has been named president of Dell Services. He succeeds Peter Altabef, who is leaving Dell after leading the successful integration of Perot Systems into Dell. The combined Dell Services business unit represents almost $8 billion in annual revenue. With more than 43,000 team members working in 90 countries, Dell Services operates 60 technology support centers around the world, 36 customer data centers and provides technical support for 14 million client systems and 10,000 Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) customers. In a related move, Dell will consolidate its Public and Large Enterprise business units into a single organization focused on supporting the needs of these customers. Paul Bell will serve as president of Dell's newly combined Public-Large Enterprise business unit. Both Schuckenbrock and Bell report to Michael Dell, chairman and CEO.

ACCENTURE NAMES INDIA MP...Accenture appointed Avinash Vashistha country managing director for India. Vashistha has also been appointed co-chairman of India, along with Harsh Manglik. Vashistha, 49, joins Accenture from Tholons, a global strategic advisory firm for outsourcing, research, investment and education, where he served as founder, chairman and CEO. Earlier in his career he founded neoIT, an offshore advisory firm, and prior to that, he led Nortel's pioneering outsourcing efforts in India.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded CSC a contract to continue providing comprehensive mission support services for the Water Security Division (WSD) within its Office of Water. The contract, which was awarded during CSC's fiscal 2011 third quarter, has an eight-month base period and four 12-month options and an estimated total value of $100 million. CSC has supported the office's mission since its inception. Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will continue to provide comprehensive scientific, engineering, emergency management, risk assessment, training and regulation development support to WSD.

HP Enterprise Services announced FCC, a Spain-based multinational public services company, has signed a seven-year technology services agreement with Hewlett-Packard Servicios España, S.L. The agreement is intended to transform FCC's technology infrastructure to advance the company's ability to compete internationally; it is valued in excess of $300 million in revenue for HP. HP will provide data center services and end-user workplace management for the entire FCC organization, which has a presence in 54 countries. FCC's core businesses are environmental services and water management, construction of large infrastructure, cement production and renewable energy production.

R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company has secured a multi-million dollar, multi-year contract with Shop Direct Group (SDG), the UK's largest online and home shopping retailer. SDG has a number of retail brands within its portfolio including Littlewoods, Very.co.uk, isme and Woolworths. Under the terms of the contract anticipated to start in March, RR Donnelley will provide a broad range of services to Shop Direct Group, including premedia, print management, transactional print, fulfillment and inbound document processing.

IBM POSTS RECORD EARNINGS FOR FOURTH QUARTER...IBM announced fourth-quarter 2010 diluted earnings of $4.18 per share, compared with diluted earnings of $3.59 per share in the fourth quarter of 2009, an increase of 16 percent. Fourth-quarter net income was $5.3 billion compared with $4.8 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009, an increase of 9 percent. Total revenues for the fourth quarter of 2010 of $29.0 billion increased 7 percent (7 percent, adjusting for currency) from the fourth quarter of 2009. IBM said that it expects to deliver full-year 2011 GAAP earnings per share of at least $12.56; and operating (non-GAAP) earnings per share of at least $13.00, which puts the company on track for the 2015 road map of at least $20 of operating (non-GAAP) earnings per share.

TATA CONSULTANCY PROFITS UP SHARPLY...Tata Consultancy beat analysts' estimates posting a 30% jump in net profit from a year earlier to 23.3 billion rupees ($514 million). Revenue rose 26% to 96.63 billion rupees. TCS, which won orders from Deutsche Bank AG and Hilton Worldwide Inc. last quarter, boosted revenue 26 percent in the past three months. The strong earnings results were helped by cost controls and by a growing demand for technology outsourcing. Growth was led by the developed markets like the United States and Europe with strong contributions from Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. The portfolio of industries has shown strong growth.

STRONG QUARTER FOR HCL TECHNOLOGIES...HCL Technologies Ltd. (HCL), a leading global IT services provider, announced results for the 2nd quarter of FY 2010-11. HCL's global revenues increased by 7.5% sequentially and 32.6% year-over-year to US$864 million. HCL accelerated its growth in the European region reporting a revenue increase of 7.2% QoQ and 19.9% YoY during the 2nd quarter of FY 2010-11. In Calendar Year 2010, HCL recorded revenues in excess of US$3 billion of which US$809 million came from Europe.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has selected HP Enterprise Services as one of the prime contractors to provide information technology solutions to it and other U.S. Department of Justice agencies under the FBI Information Technology Supplies and Support Services (FBI IT Triple S) contract. HP will be able to compete for task orders under the $30 billion FBI IT Triple S multiple-award Basic Ordering Agreement contract. The contract has a one-year base period followed by a seven-year option period and serves as a centralized source for the FBI to buy integrated technology products and services. HP will offer technology solutions across several functional areas, including operations and maintenance, technical development, consulting, hardware and software and other related IT services, to meet the national security and criminal investigation objectives of all FBI organizations, as well as the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) awarded Accenture a two-year contract to help identify the standards and specifications that facilitate the exchange of data across the evolving healthcare system. Under the contract, Accenture will work with ONC to develop and manage business scenarios called "use cases" that ONC will use to help determine the standards and IT systems necessary for peak operation. The U.S. Air Force awarded CSC a contract to provide cybersecurity services for the 33rd Network Warfare Squadron (NWS). The contract, which has a one-year base period and two option years, has an estimated total three-year value of $30 million. This contract was awarded during CSC's fiscal 2011 second quarter. Under the terms of the contract, CSC will isolate, contain and prevent intrusive activities on the Air Force automated information systems and networks.

Accenture and Carlsberg have agreed to a five-year contract for the provision of application services to the European operations of Carlsberg Breweries A/S. Under the terms of the agreement, Accenture will support a range of application services in a co-sourcing agreement managed by Carlsberg. The services will support Carlsberg's "Business Standardisation Programme" (BSP), which aims to enable future growth through the introduction of common business processes, and an enhanced ability to share best practices across its European operations.

The French Ministry of Budget and Government Accounting, Civil Service and State Reform, has retained the consortium led by Steria and its co-sourcing partner, Capgemini France--a subsidiary of the Capgemini Group--for the maintenance of Chorus, the French State's new Financial Management, Budget, and Accounting IT system. The six-year contract, is worth around €120 million, and is part of the French state modernization program. .

We are very sad to learn that Joe Vales, a dear colleague and an outsourcing industry giant and pioneer, passed away on January 12.

iGATE TO ACQUIRE MAJORITY STAKE IN PATNI...iGATE Corporation will acquire a majority stake in Patni Computer Systems Ltd., the Mumbai-based IT services and BPO company. The transaction is valued at approximately $1.22 billion, including the mandatory open offer to the public shareholders of Patni. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2011. iGATE expects the transaction to be accretive by 2012 on a cash earnings per share basis. The acquisition will bring together two highly recognized information technology outsourcing companies with complementary industry verticals, and is expected to facilitate sustained long-term growth for the combined entity. Commenting on the acquisition, Phaneesh Murthy, CEO of iGATE Corporation, said, "It has been our stated intent to scale revenues, customers, and expand our vertical capability. We believe the threshold of a billion dollar revenue will facilitate faster adoption of our iTOPS for Business Outcomes model. ACCENTURE COMPLETES CAS ACQUISITION...Accenture has completed its acquisition of CAS Computer Anwendungs- und Systemberatung AG (CAS), based in Kaiserslautern, Germany. CAS is a leading international provider of customer relationship management (CRM) and mobility software focused on retail execution and trade promotions for the consumer products industry. Approximately 234 CAS employees based in Germany, the United Kingdom, United States and Australia are joining Accenture as a result of the acquisition.

GENPACT SIGNS SIX-YEAR EXTENSION WITH SERCO...Genpact Limited has been awarded a six-year contract extension by international services company Serco for finance and accounting (F&A) services. Under this new agreement, Genpact will expand the scope of its services to further deploy best-in-class F&A processes for Serco's growing operations while lowering costs. Genpact will be working to drive continuous process improvements for Serco's own Shared Services Center (SSC) organization in the UK, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. Genpact is specifically handling procure to pay, order to cash, record to report, general accounting, treasury cash management, technical accounting, and payroll processes.

PROVADE INSTALLATIONS SET RECORD...Provade Inc. announced it implemented a record number of Vendor Management System (VMS) installations in 2010. This is the second straight year the company, whose web-based technology helps businesses manage their contingent workforce and outside services spend, has doubled its annual number of deployments and revenue. Silicon Valley-based Provade deployed its software to 12 companies this year, bringing its total number of clients to 47 businesses in 40 countries. More than $2 billion in contingent labor and statement of work (SOW) spend runs through Provade's platform.

Cognizant has been selected for a multiyear engagement to provide ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), the leading U.S. performing rights organization, with a range of remote IT infrastructure management (RIM) services to drive operational efficiencies, enhance the quality of service, and enable virtualization. As part of the agreement, Cognizant will manage a broad spectrum of ASCAP's data servers, networks, databases, messaging platforms, and BlackBerry devices. Cognizant will assume end-to-end ownership and responsibility for all in-scope services and will implement high levels of automation to streamline operations, with robust metrics to provide ASCAP full visibility on the health of operations.

The Department of Labor (DOL) awarded CSC a blanket purchase agreement to support the department's National Contact Center (NCC). CSC will manage and operate the contact center, providing nationwide toll-free information services to DOL customers with questions about employment, unemployment, wages, workplace safety and health, pension and health benefits, workplace injuries and other related inquiries. The agreement has a one-year base period and four one-year options and a total ceiling value of $75 million.

HP announced a 52-month services agreement with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to create a statewide Medicaid health information exchange. The contract, valued at $30 million, includes an electronic health history system for all Medicaid clients. It also will replace the current paper-based Medicaid identification cards with plastic magnetic stripe cards for automated eligibility verification.HP will provide web-based tools to streamline provider interaction and increase access to health information.

The i2d consortium led by Logica has been awarded a 10 year outsourcing contract to deliver the Serious Organised Crime Agency's ICT and related services. Logica will deliver the contract with its key partners in the successful i2d consortium: QinetiQ, Detica and Cable & Wireless. The i2d solution will provide SOCA with a platform for improved collaboration with its partners, exploitation of intelligence and case management, as well as creating efficiencies through consolidation of data centres, networks and desktops.

HP WINS $2.5 BILLION CONTRACT FROM NASA...HP Enterprise Services has signed a $2.5 billion, 10-year outsourcing contract with NASA to deliver the space agency's IT desktop, mobile and other computing needs over the next decade. Under the contract, HP will manage NASA's personal computing hardware and software, mobile IT services, peripherals, accessories and supporting infrastructure. NASA, which spends about $1.8 billion annually on IT, has 80,000 desktops and laptops. The contract has a four-year base period and two three-year renewal options.

ACCENTURE NAMES NEW CEO...Pierre Nanterme has assumed the role of chief executive officer of Accenture, effective January 1. Accenture announced in October that Nanterme would become chief executive officer on Jan. 1, succeeding William D. Green. Green, who has been CEO since September 2004 and assumed the additional role of chairman in September 2006, will remain as chairman. Green will continue as chairman of the board of directors. He will continue to play a very active role with Accenture clients around the world, represent Accenture with business and government leaders, and champion Accenture's Skills to Succeed corporate citizenship efforts.

Nanterme, 51, served most recently as group chief executive of Accenture's global Financial Services operating group, a position he has held since 2007. During his 28 years with Accenture, he has held a wide variety of leadership positions across many dimensions of the company's business.

TOWERS WATSON COMPLETE ALIQUANT ACQUISITION...Towers Watson announced the completion of its acquisition of Aliquant, a privately held, full-service health and welfare benefits administration outsourcing firm. The acquisition enables Towers Watson to strengthen its position as a premier provider of high-quality health and welfare benefits outsourcing services. Aliquant was founded in 1985 in Milford, CT, to develop software for the administration of health and welfare benefit plans. Aliquant's service offerings include core administration services, employee contact centers, FSA and COBRA administration and direct billing.

Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS), A Xerox Company, has been awarded a contract to implement e-filing in the Arkansas State Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Circuit Court and District Court by the state's Administrative Office of the Courts. E-filing will save time and money for the courts and attorneys. The project is expected to begin in the first quarter of this year with a pilot in the Pulaski County Circuit Court in Little Rock. A program to roll out e-filing statewide is scheduled later in the year.

BP International Limited has signed a five-year outsourcing services agreement with HP Enterprise Services UK Limited valued in excess of $400 million. Under the agreement, HP will deliver consistent global data center services that enable BP to standardize and consolidate its hosting services and take advantage of innovations such as cloud computing. HP currently provides HP Data Center Services to BP's European data centers in the United Kingdom. The new agreement brings the remaining BP data centers in Europe and all those in the Americas regions under a single contract that covers data center management services – from monitoring, back up and recovery, site management and maintenance services, to database and middleware management.

Hilton Worldwide, the leading global hospitality company, and Tata Consultancy Services announced a multi-year agreement to help accelerate and enhance Hilton Worldwide's technology strategy as part of the Hilton Worldwide Innovation Collaborative.
