It is the second major acquisition of an API management company in the past week, signaling a consolidation of a market that larger companies see as vital for closing the gap between on-premise and online infrastructure and apps. Last week, Intel acquired Mashery for $180 million. The acquisition price for Layer 7 was not disclosed but the Mashery price serves as a good guide for what CA was ready to pay. CA also announced it is buying Nolio, a company that provides continuous application delivery.

WIPRO PROFITS UP 17 PERCENT IN QUARTER...Wipro Ltd. (WPRO) posted a 17 percent gain in fourth-quarter profit. Net income rose to 17.3 billion rupees ($321 million) in the three months ended March 31, from 14.8 billion rupees a year earlier, Bangalore-based Wipro said in a statement. That surpassed the 17.2 billion-rupee median of 42 analysts' estimates compiled by Bloomberg. The company this month completed the separation of its non- IT businesses into unlisted Wipro Enterprises. Wipro's information-technology revenues reached $1.59 billion (86 billion rupees) in the fourth quarter, meeting the company's $1.59 billion-$1.63 billion estimate.

IBM ACQUIRES URBANCODE...IBM has acquired UrbanCode Inc. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, UrbanCode automates the delivery of software, helping businesses quickly release and update mobile, social, big data, cloud applications.
IBM's says with UrbanCode's technology, businesses can reduce the cycle time it takes to get updates or new applications into market, from months to minutes. This approach is designed to help reduce cost and risk, while helping address changing client needs by enabling a company to rapidly incorporate feedback into and improve the overall quality of their applications and services.
