CONVERGYS SELLS HR LINE OF BUSINESS...Convergys Corporation has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Human Resources Management (HRM) line of business to NorthgateArinso, a leading global human resources software & services provider, for approximately $85 million in cash at closing and $15 million in cash over three years. With its world headquarters in the United Kingdom, NorthgateArinso has offices in 31 countries on five continents delivering services in over 70 countries through a network of eight Service Delivery Centers. NorthgateArinso's approximately 5,000 staff members serve more than 20 percent of the FORTUNE Global 500 companies, and it is one of the five largest HR service providers in the world.
INTELENET ACQUIRES UK BACK OFFICE GROUP...Intelenet, an Indian BPO firm controlled by the US private equity group Blackstone, has acquired the back office operations of the UK transport company for £45m. Intelenet will now be responsible for customer management, ticket issuing and back-office processing across rail franchises including FirstCapitalConnect, First ScotRail and First Great Western. The aim to increase FirstInfo’s UK employees from 300 up to 2,000 in two years.

(ACS), a Xerox company, has been awarded a competitively bid contract to provide parking citation processing and collections services for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD). The five-and-a-half year contract extends one of ACS' longest client relationships, now in its 27th year. As part of the new contract, ACS is providing continued innovation to the department through updated technology, including handheld devices for Sheriff Parking Control Officers to issue citations, as well as a fleet of automated license plate recognition units.

ExlService Holdings, Inc. has closed the acquisition of American Express' Global Travel Service Center (GTSC) operations on March 1, 2010. In conjunction with the closing, EXL will begin delivering service for American Express under a new eight-year agreement to service American Express Business Travel's back-office and estimates achieving more than $160 million in revenues over the life of the contract.
Delhaize Belgium has awarded Accenture a multi-year contract to support the implementation of an integrated supply chain enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Drawing on its global systems integration experience, Accenture will collaborate with Delhaize Belgium to implement the new platform that will enable the retailer to standardize their supply chain transactions, leading to increased efficiency and productivity.
]]>DONNELLY TO ACQUIRE BOWNE & CO...R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company will acquire Bowne & Co., Inc., a provider of shareholder and marketing communications servicesfor approximately $481 million, or $11.50 per share. The agreement has been approved by the Boards of Directors of both companies. The acquisition is expected to be accretive to RR Donnelley's earnings in the first full year after the closing of the transaction, which is expected to occur in the second half of the year. The completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval and approval of Bowne shareholders.
CIBER ANNOUNCES STOCK REPURCHASE...CIBER, Inc. announced its Board of Directors has authorized the purchase of up to $5 million of common shares in 2010. CIBER purchased 1.4 million shares of common stock in open-market transactions in 2009. CIBER uses this program to support shares being purchased in its Employee Stock Purchase Program and to mitigate the dilution of shares outstanding by stock options.

Unisys Corporation announced that its Australian subsidiary has been awarded a five-year contract by the West Australian Public Trustee to provide support and enhancements for its Management Accounting Trust Environment (MATE) application. The contract for an initial three-year period, with the option of two one-year extensions, commenced December 2009 and was awarded following a competitive bid process. It builds on an eight year-relationship during which Unisys has built, supported and modernised the core Public Trustee application that underpins the organisation.
Wipro Ltd, and leading public sector bank Punjab and Sind Bank (PSB) today announced that they have signed a 10-year contract for comprehensive IT outsourcing services for PSB. Wipro will be responsible for System Integration, provisioning and management of Finacle core banking solution and enterprise applications. This would include 24*7 management of the entire underlying IT infrastructure covering computing platforms and networking. As part of the program, Wipro will also undertake commissioning and management of the Data Centre and the Disaster Recovery centre, and Service and Support for the Bank. The solution is expected to completely transform the bank's IT landscape in terms of improved agility for offering innovative banking services.

EVEREST Q4 REPORT: OUTSOURCING MARKET CONTINUES TO SIGNAL GLOBAL RECOVERY...The outsourcing and offshoring market witnessed continued trends of global recovery as evidenced by sustained global transaction activity led by buyers in the United States and Europe, continued captive growth, increased hiring by leading Indian suppliers, and other indicators, according to the Market Vista: Q4 2009 report by Everest, a global consulting and research firm. Everest's quarterly study on global outsourcing and offshoring activity reports transaction volume in the fourth quarter was similar to the third quarter, but a few mega-deals pushed annual contract value (ACV) up 72 percent to about US $4 billion.
Kofax plc will provide a leading and fast growing international airline based in the Middle East with a distributed invoice capture solution. The value of the contract to Kofax is approximately $200,000. The airline will use Kofax software to capture, classify and extract data from approximately 2 million paper and electronic invoices it receives annually at more than 55 global locations. The resulting data will then be sent to its central invoice processing center for validation before being exported into a Microsoft SharePoint based repository and workflow for further processing and payment.
